New & Noteworthy Cabo Resorts

It’s no secret that Los Cabos, Mexico is a travel destination hotspot for a good portion of the year. Mexico has a sunny place in our hearts, which we are sure you already know based on our guides to Los Cabos, Punta Mita, and Loreto to name a few. From the lively golden beaches and nightlife to the trendy oceanfront restaurants, Cabo has plenty to offer and resorts are popping up everywhere!

We recently had the opportunity to stay at the Sheraton Grand Los Cabos, Hacienda Del Mar and boy, was it magical! The magic continued when we were given a tour of the new Luxury Collection hotel, Solaz Los Cabos, also owned by Marriott International (which is set to open late March 2018). So grab yourself a margarita, sit back, and relax because this travel guide is jam-packed with exciting details and new & noteworthy Cabo resorts you won’t want to miss out on!

Where To Stay

Sheraton Grand Los Cabos

Sheraton Grand Los Cabos, Hacienda Del Mar

If you are looking for the hacienda feel of old Mexico, the Sheraton Grand Los Cabos is the place to be. Located in the upscale enclave of Cabo del Sol, the resort overlooks the Sea of Cortez and has an atmosphere that is reminiscent of a quaint seaside village. With five pools (including an oceanfront infinity pool as well as a swim-up bar…yes we said swim up bar!). It is extremely easy to keep calm, cool and relaxed while here!

The relaxation continued at the resort’s European-style Cactus spa which offered a peaceful sanctuary to relax and rejuvenate while indulging in their best pampering services. If you are looking for something a little more active, the nearby Cabo del Sol Golf Resort offers two golf courses (desert course and ocean course) where players of all skill levels can enjoy an unforgettable round whilst taking in all of the breathtaking views.

Solaz Los Cabos

Solaz Los Cabos

Although Solaz is not quite finished yet, it is most definitely an architectural gem designed in harmony with its seaside environment, at the union of Baja’s most coveted destinations—Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. With a coastline that stretches from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean and 350 sunny days a year, Los Cabos is Mexico’s haven for international elite. We were able to score a tour and see all of the beauty come to life right in front of our eyes! All of the rooms will have state of the art technology and a fresh modern look coupled with the traditional Mexican art, culture, and landscape. If you are a traveler looking to enrich your overall travel experience, Solaz will definitely be the place for you!

What To Eat

SUR Beach House

Sunset de Mona Lisa: Not only is the Sunset de Mona Lisa one of the most romantic spots in Cabo, but it also has one of the most outstanding oceanfront views! There is not a bad seat in the house at this fine dining Mediterranean restaurant. With a Michelin star trained chef creating the freshest cuisine, you will without a doubt experience the richest flavors and most tantalizing aromas.

De Cortez Restaurant: De Cortez Restaurant at the Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar was our favorite dining spot on the property! The ambiance couldn’t have been more enchanting and the attentive service made the night absolutely wonderful. With seasonal land and sea menu options, and oceanfront dining, you are guaranteed to have a dazzling experience from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave!

SUR Beach House: If you are looking to enjoy a chic lunch spot, you’re in luck, because the SUR Beach House is one of the most stylish restaurants located on the most swimmable shoreline in Los Cabos! We enjoyed some of the most refreshing cocktails and dishes inspired by Mexico, Peru, and Asia while watching the beachgoers have some fun in the sun! One of our favorite parts was the beautiful al fresco rooftop banquet area upstairs that was absolutely perfect for events and weddings!

What To Do

Don’t get us wrong, we definitely lounged by one of the many pools at the Sheraton and enjoyed a cocktail or two on the beach, but we also saved some time for fun activities around the city. From touring a blown glass factory to cooking classes to setting sail on the open water, there is plenty to do and see in Los Cabos!

We had the pleasure of learning how to make a spicy and colorful Mexican pizza with some of the best chefs on property at the Sheraton Grand Los Cabos. Although they came out in all shapes and sizes, they tasted phenomenal (and that’s what counts right?!). Next, we got to experience the ocean breeze in our hair and the crystal blue waters beneath our feet during our time of luxury sailing at the Sea of Cortez by Cabo Adventures.

If you are looking for an authentic experience, the blown glass tour is just that. Each item is unique and one of a kind in its own special way and make for incredible souvenirs or glassware for your home! We ended our stay with an intimate bonfire on the beach right on the sand in front of De Cortez Restaurant filled with s’mores, champagne and lasting memories.

It’s hard to beat a sunset like that!
