Where to Stay in Punta Mita, Mexico: The St. Regis

Punta Mita is known for being Mexico’s luxury destination. It’s home to some of the most beautiful beaches, a top tier golf course, a total feeling of seclusion, and luxury resorts to match. We recently had the opportunity to travel to and stay in Punta Mita at The St. Regis, and couldn’t wait to come back and tell you all about it! So, if you’re looking for your next vacation or honeymoon hotspot, read on for our (glowing) review of The St. Regis Punta Mita and why you should visit in the first place.

First of all, we think it’s important to note that Punta Mita, and the St. Regis specifically, is a wonderful getaway for a variety of occasions. Wether you are visiting with your family, your spouse, are getting married, or simply planning a warm weather vacation, it can be perfect for you and your traveling purpose. Here is why:

What your wedding could look like ^

The Location

Punta Mita in Riviera Nayarit is a quick 45 minute drive from the Puerto Vallarta airport. It’s on the mainland of Mexico, unlike San José del Cabo (where we visited last fall), situated on a peninsula. Upon entering the community, you will be greeted with rows of palm trees as you make your way to the tip of the peninsula, upon which The St. Regis resort is located. Pick up your welcome margarita (we highly recommend) and enjoy the view out the lobby lounge of the infinity pool leading straight to the ocean.

Then, be guided to your private villa-style room complete with an entryway, large balcony, and indoor and outdoor shower. While it was tempting to sit and relax in the spacious room, we couldn’t wait to explore the expansive grounds! So expansive, in fact, that you hardly notice the other guests there. Between three pools and four restaurants, and the sweeping beachfront, there is plenty of space to enjoy.

The Activities

Speaking of the pools and beaches, there is also plenty to do on property. Pick up a tour boat straight from the St. Regis beach to take you to the nearby islands to snorkle, stand up baddle board, and swim. Your guides will be a wealth of knowledge so don’t be afraid to ask them about the wide variety of birds, fish, and history behind the many natural beauties you’ll see offshore.

However, you don’t even have to leave the St. Regis to enjoy yourself. Take a dip in one of the many pools, lounge in a hammock on the beach, or play a round of golf at the famous course on site. We took a few swings at Jack Nichlaus’ ‘favorite hole’ (that happens to be an island!) during our stay, which was one of the most memorable moments.

Finally, to escape the sun for a day, or truly indulge in relaxation, visit the renowned spa for a one of their many innovative treatments from a chocolate body scrub to floatation therapy to meditation.

The Food

It’s no secret Mexico is home to delicious cuisine; tacos, seafood, and salsa just skim the surface of what’s fresh, available, and SO yummy. The St. Regis outdoes themselves in the culinary department thanks to an exquisite brunch buffet display complete with traditional breakfast and Mexican options (homemade tortillas, anyone), a beachfront taco bar (where you’ll taste lobster tacos like you never have before), and an oyster & champagne bar serving up the best from the sea. In addition to these options and more, they have a fine dining restaurant where the chef’s creative entrées will have you begging for more.

The Amenities

There are many things that don’t go unnoticed when staying at an incredible property such as The St. Regis Punta Mita. For instance, each room receives a butler to serve any needs or answer any questions at almost any hour of the day. From bringing coffee to your room to arranging your airport transformation, your butler is easy to communicate with via a simple text message. This is a unique St. Regis amenity that we didn’t take for granted!

The St. Regis is full of traditions that help make guests’ stays extra memorable. Another example is the champagne ritual where they pour – or rather dramatically pop with a sword – champagne for guests to enjoy on Fridays at sunset. We were able to enjoy this ceremony, and even give it a try ourselves, as the perfect finish to our stay.

We know we can’t do this beautiful trip justice, but hope you can visit The St. Regis Punta Mita soon to experience it for yourself! If you have been here, we would love to hear your favorite part in the comments below!
