Since this bride (the blogger behind Tartan and Sequins) spent her early years in the south, she decided she wanted the wedding to be all things southern and charming! She was completely enamored with the hospitality, not to mention the food and style and wanted to bring in all of those elements on her big day! They used navy and light pink as the colors throughout finding the perfect balance between preppy and elegant. The rustic elements like burlap runners, rustic signage and wood flower boxes added to the “Southern Charm”. She even spent a full year collecting cut glass vases to be used as the centerpieces! When paired with the fine gold china and burlap runner, the tables had a rustic elegance- very southern. For the food and drink, they served Mint Juleps and Hemingway Daiquiris as signature cocktails, barbecued chicken and cornbread with candied bacon as hors d’oeuvres and a fried green tomato salad for dinner.
From the bride:
Like many brides these days, I used Pinterest, Loverly (founded by my good friend Kellee) and wedding blogs to gather images and ideas I liked. Just gathering all of that information helped me understand what my vision was for the big day. I then worked with our wedding planner, Mary Ellen Murphy of Off The Beaten Path Weddings to bring the vision to life. She was great at figuring out all of the details to make the whole day come together.
