Kids’ Glittery Beach Christmas Party

What do you get when your wrap troupe of adorable toddlers up in beanies and faux fur and give them a handful of glitter and a tree to decorate? This super cute Christmas party on the Santa Cruz beach. They sipped tea, splashed in the waves, curled up in blankets, and hid out under a teepee. And we’re sure they had a lot of fun doing so!

Cassie Green captured all the fun! She says, This shoot inspiration came from thinking about those of us out there who don’t get a wonderful Winter Wonderland where we live. I grew up on the east coast and after 12 years of living here on the west coast, and raising my family here, i’m finally getting used to the feeling of christmas in the sun. I wanted to showcase that the spirit of Christmas can thrive even in Sunny California, without soft, white snow falling down from the sky.

I teamed up with freelance art director, Jennifer Lai Stern, who also happens to be a friend, and we took a trip to one of my favorite beaches in Santa cruz to set up a little boho/vintage holiday play date. The theme was tea pary/hot cocoa and cookies, plus decorating a mini tree on the beach.We used the beach because we thought it captured the free spirit and wonder in the same way that christmas morning can for children and the parents watching them EXPERIENCE it. We used our own kids and some of thier friends from school to enjoy the play date. the beach was quiet. It was dead low tide at sunset and 70 degrees. It couldn’t have worked out more PERFECTLY for us.
