Downtown Los Angeles Loft Wedding

At one of our favorite venues in Downtown Los Angeles, this loft wedding is not only top notch in vibe and style, but in sentiment too. The bride & groom had to hurdle a last minute, and scary, health situation the very week of their wedding. Regardless, with friends and family and a wonderful team of vendors behind them, their day went off without a hitch (despite its postponement). The day is as dreamy as can be. From city skyline views to a dress dripping in sequins and a dramatic reception, it may just be one of our faves. Photographer, Greg Ross shares Valerie & Ryan’s sweet story below along with all the ups and downs that got them here.

Lucky Day Events Co. shares, All vendors on board would agree that Valerie + Ryan were a dream couple to work with from the beginning. Valerie had a very hip, cool vision of what she wanted for her wedding. A sort of “urban jungle” with lots of greenery adorning the brick and white walls of the Hudson Loft in Downtown Los Angeles. Hanging fern greenery chandeliers, retro vintage rentals, and a rad dinner and dance party for their closest out-of-town family and friends was everything she dreamed of.

On Sunday, the week of the wedding, Valerie sent us an email. Expecting to be updated on more logistics we opened it only to find that they were en route to the ER since Ryan had been experiencing flu-like symptoms but not responding to the antibiotics they prescribed the week prior. With positive thoughts, we proceeded with all wedding details and continued printing their timelines for the wedding now six days away. On Tuesday evening before the wedding, Valerie called us again from the hospital – bad news. Not only was Ryan not responding to medication but he wasn’t eating, couldn’t walk and was thought to have Viral Meningitis and they strongly believed it was from West Nile Virus. Valerie was faced with being in the terrible position of being concerned for her fiancé’s life while still trying to decide whether to postpone the wedding, an occasion that should be the happiest day of a person’s life. On Wednesday night, with Ryan’s health on the line and Valerie in the hospital alongside her fiancé, we made the difficult decision to postpone the wedding so that Ryan would be able to enjoy their day.

Ryan made a full recovery and thankfully was released from the hospital back to his love and his life the following week. Seeing the support, the unconditional love and the complete trust in each other these two had made everything else background noise. Valerie + Ryan were married on March 12, 2016. Oh yeah…their wedding was pretty kickass too 😉
