Papaya & Palm Leaves Tropical Baby Shower

When Amber Thrane, of Dulcet Creative, says her baby shower was ‘such a dream’ we couldn’t agree more! We are vicariously living through her bright papaya and full-of palm leaves tropical baby shower; We wish we were eating acaí bowls out of coconuts and playing games at a table set with palm leaves and papaya. What could be better?! Maybe the fact that Amber herself showered game prize winners with extravagant gift boxes. Yep, she’s the sweetest. Without further adieu, we know you’ll love this fun & fabulous fete!

We are pregnant with our third baby and most likely our last baby. So, I really wanted to embrace the whole experience of this last baby shower with my family and friends from start to finish. I used this shower as a way to bring together the close women in my life and thank them for all the ways they’ve helped and supported me through motherhood over the last seven years and now through this pregnancy with our baby boy due Sept 7th!

The tropical theme for my shower was inspired by how much I desperately wanted to spend my entire pregnancy on the beach in Tulum drinking from a freshly chopped coconut… So, I figured I would bring a little bit of the tropical jungle vibe to San Diego! Layered Vintage created a beautiful tropical leaf wall using the most giant monstera leaves I’ve ever seen as a base. And it proved as the perfect backdrop for the food table. The food included everything that I craved this pregnancy: fresh assorted salads from Lemonade, fruit bowls in coconuts that my husband and I cracked open and made with pesto caprese sandwiches!

The dessert table featured cakes with edible flowers, and cookies by Raechals Custom Cookies that she hand painted with patterns that I mocked up and sent to her. She did an amazing job!

I used palm tree leaf clippings from my parents yard to line the long lunch table in addition to assorted fresh fruit as the centerpieces. (Which I ate after the shower for two weeks straight). I then used disposable palm leaf plates at each place setting with knotted cloth napkins on each plate that my friend hand-dyed just for me. Lastly, the assorted blue and green glasses added fun pops of color along the table!

The event space Hatched Collective was the most perfect neutral/bright space! It included all the light wood chairs, wicker lounges and amazing furniture, which made set-up so incredibly easy. I just added little touches here and there with tropical pillows from Witty Rentals and vases filled with greenery.

My seven year old daughter LOVES parties and baby showers and asked if she could be in charge of all the games for the day so I gave her full creative control. My mom helped her shop and execute all of her ideas from baby bingo to a baby memorization game etc. And they were perfect! I decided the game prizes HAD to be curated boxes by my new friend Emily at The Giving Crate. She customized each gift box just for my baby shower that included amazing specialty teas, air plants and bath products etc from local artists and companies.

The whole day was such a dream and made me even more excited to meet our baby boy soon!

Want more? This white & teal tropical baby shower is another one of our favorites!
