Kids parties are one of our favorite things to post about on the baby blog! They’re such a fun opportunity to get a little silly and go for whatever theme their hearts desire! Today’s party is the perfect way to cap off summer…an outdoor movie night! What a fun opportunity to pop some popcorn and lay out some blankets while watching one of the kids’ favorite movies!
From the designer:
This ‘Backyard Movie Night’ theme works great for kids of all ages but is particularly appropriate for the little ones who typically don’t stay up too late and consider movie nights a special treat. I designed and styled this birthday party for a 5 year old who wanted to invite all 25 of his class friends for his birthday. I knew I wanted to do something outdoors to cater to so many hyperactive 5 year olds but also wanted to make this a memorable experience they would really enjoy.
The party incorporated a lot of rustic, outdoor inspired decor. I started with the cake and found inspiration from all our camping adventures – something my son thoroughly enjoys. Artesa Baking executed my idea perfectly – complete with a tent, sleeping bag and mini marshmallows.
Once I had the cake designed, I incorporated other rustic, outdoor related elements into the party planning process. The party invitations and welcome sign were hand-drawn and painted. Handmade quilts and sleeping bags provided the perfect seating arrangements on the backyard lawn. Popcorn was served in handmade cones using from old newspapers and served in vintage soda crates. A fire pit warmed little hands and feet as well as served as a s’mores making station using cups made from dried leaves (something I had acquired from my travels in India – perfectly recyclable). Vintage mason jars and old tree stumps added rustic charm as well as functional decor for the food table.
