This bright, beachy birthday party is everything a birthday celebration should be! We’re excited to share the founder’s of One King’s Lane name day soiree on our lifestyle blog today. It’s full of all her favorite things and people, as well as gorgeous decor, colorful blooming florals, and witty stationery and stir sticks (and gives us flashbacks to this awesome 3oth birthday!). We think birthdays are definitely something to celebrate and Homethrown LA sure did a great job making it something special!
From the event designers at Homethrown LA, This was an intimate birthday celebration for the founder of One Kings Lane, Susan Feldman, hosted in their summer home in Malibu. Flipbooth was a great addition to the party as guests took photos during cocktails + appetizers that captured the fun and the sunset as it was happening. All event decor, concept and design was done by Homethrown LA in collaboration with Susan’s husband, Bob. the party was hugely reflective of the guest of honor and captured different aspects of her personality that we wanted to honor. For example, her affection for photography was honored by a giant installation of black and white photos (one from each year of her life) that served as a focal point near the bar and acted as a timeline fromm the day she was born to present day.
The two most important aspects of her life are her work and her friends + family. We had a set of a linen napkins created that had black and white images from different ‘pages’ of her life–her daughters’ birth certificates, her marriage certificate, the article that launched One Kings Lane, etc. These were incorporated into the tabletop alongside other patterned napkins. we had watercolor portraits made of each guest by Sophie lilli and they were used creatively throughout the party-guests had drink stirrers with their faces on them and it was a really fun conversation piece! In addition, there were customized ice cream sundaes made for dessert based on a gorgeous menu we had created by Li Ward + Quinn Luu. Each sundae was given to guests with their portrait in it so waiters knew how to find them! Guests were given incredible gifts to commemorate the evening.
The vessels for the gifts were custom Eliza Gran baskets and they were filled with incredible goodies including fresh flower bundles for the next morning, homemade Homethrown LA granola (with a tag suggesting our favorite way to enjoy!), incredible linen beach blankets and more! The event was captured by the gorgeous photography of Jen Lauren Grant from Birds of a Feather. Susan was surrounded by an incredible amount of love and admiration with guests ranging from family to her oldest friends to newer friends she’s met since the launch of One Kings Lane. we were honored to make this evening a special and commemorative night for a very unique woman.
