Our Favorite Sustainable Fashion Brands

Everything we do has some sort of impact on the environment, and unfortunately this impact isn’t always a positive one. This fact rings true when it comes to our fashion choices. The fashion industry has a notoriously strong impact on our Earth, emitting large amounts of greenhouse gases during production. Clothing pieces made of acrylic, polyester, and nylon are the main culprits of this heavy pollution— materials that are commonly used by fast fashion brands. Sustainable fashion brands make a point to produce clothing in a less harmful way. Using less water and sourcing recycled or natural materials are just some of the ways sustainable fashion brands are helping create a healthier planet. Looking to support sustainable fashion? Here are some of our favorite brands!

Everlane

Based in the US, Everlane is an online fashion brand that is well known for its extremely well-made clothing items. Countless reviews rave about the durability of Everlane clothing, which is an important part of sustainable fashion. While these items are of high quality, you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank. Everlane is all about providing “radical transparency” which describes the way they pair with ethical factories, source top-tier materials, and price each item at its true cost. We love the rich, neutral tones that Everlane is best known for!

Pact

Pact is a Boulder Colorado based company that provides Fair Trade, Organic cotton clothing and home goods. Pact promises to use non-toxic dyes and clean materials (aka super soft cotton). We absolutely love the versatility of Pact’s pieces. The designs are simple, making them the perfect closet must-haves. Check out the site for tons of cute and comfortable clothing for men, women, and children. From maxi-dresses to loungewear to bedsheets, this site really has it all

Alternative Apparel

Another one-stop-shop style fashion brand, Alternative Apparel is a great place for the eco-conscious shopper looking for a wide variety of clothing options. We love that Alternative Apparel is not only eco-friendly, but also ethical; providing their employees with fair wages and good working conditions. This company is super transparent about the sustainable materials used to create their products. Buyers can choose from a number of awesome eco fabrics including heavyweight recycled cotton, 100% organic cotton, hemp blend jersey and cotton-modal interlock. All of this information and more is available on their website!

Rent the Runway

Rent the Runway has taken on an entirely new approach to sustainable fashion. With a monthly membership, users can pick a wardrobe plan, browse through thousands of designer styles, and then simply wear and swap their items. According to RTR, the average woman throws away 82 pounds of clothing a year! This clothing rental model keeps clothing in use and out of landfills. Apart from clothing, RTR has a huge selection of bags, jewelry, and sunglasses. RTR even offers wedding gowns for eco-conscious brides!

Threads 4 Thought

Threads 4 Thought was fairly early to the sustainable fashion industry. Founded in 2006, T4T quickly gained popularity and support for its use of eco-friendly materials like organic cotton and recycled polyester. T4T offers tons of great basics for the whole family, but it’s their active line that’s really got us excited! The ReActive line is made from recycled materials such as plastic bottles and nylon fishing nets. T4T has regenerated these materials into comfortable, durable, (and super cute) activewear!
