Tell us a little more about Ginger & Blooms and what you do!
Ginger & Blooms is really a boutique planning and floral design studio. We take on a limited amount of weddings per year so that we can really become best friends with our brides and give them all of our attention. G&B offers full wedding floral design as well as planning, but we tend to stick more to the design/styling aspect of planning :). It is our belief that florals are such a large part of your wedding design, so being able to offer both planning and florals together for our brides ensures a really cohesive final design.
How did you guys become business partners? Was this always a dream of yours?
We love this question! It’s funny actually, we both always knew we wanted business partners, but being so new to the wedding industry, we weren’t sure when it would happen. Alyssa had her own wedding planning/design business, Lovely & Bubbly Events, and Lauren was doing florals and coordination under her business, So Lovely Weddings. We both started doing weddings and shoots together and it was just such a natural fit for us because our styles aligned so well. Lauren was already in the midst of a rebrand, and she asked Alyssa to team up with her over an email!!! True story, her email started as “Ok… I feel like I am proposing” and Alyssa said YES! Lots of crazy emails, texts, and cries later, Ginger & Blooms was official!
Your office is beautiful! What was your inspiration?
Thank you!!! The office was actually designed along with our new brand and to be totally honest the wallpaper set the WHOLE tone! All of our inspiration definitely came from that and our love for copper! We are also total Anthropologie lovers so that inspiration came naturally to us. We just love it!!
Was it easy to combine styles and settle on an aesthetic both of you loved?
What's your favorite part?
Definitely the wallpaper and gallery wall!! Did we mention that already? Haha!!
You both had started your own business before starting Ginger & Blooms, do you have any advice for entrepreneurs like yourself looking to start something of their own?
Get involved and be a part of a community. When you’re new, it can be intimidating to put yourself out there, but it is the #1 thing that has kept us going. Take the initiative to plan a shoot or something where you can show off your talent. Face your fears and reach out to people you want to work with. But make sure you do it in the right way – you can’t go into your new business thinking that anyone owes you anything. Go into each venture with the goal to serve others, whether those are clients or other vendors. When you’re doing work that you’re passionate about while serving your clients and colleagues well, your business is sure to thrive.
Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?
Ginger & Blooms is still so new, so we hope that we are able to grow into it over the next 5 years, always becoming more organized and more streamlined in our work. We hope to further identify with our ideal client, attract those brides, and really just enjoy the planning process with each and every sweet bride!
