A Motown 1st Birthday Party

This Motown 1st birthday party is one of the cutest party themes we’ve ever seen! Every detail is flawless in executing the theme perfectly. What’s even better is that the birthday boys name, Miles, goes hand in hand with it! The decorations are the perfect balance of gender neutral. There’s disco balls, old school microphones, neutral florals and balloons, as well as fun activities for the kids. Our favorite detail has to be the use of the drums for the cake stands. The planner shares,

“Welcome to Miles in Motown! This is something I began dreaming up when Miles was still in my belly. Both Miles’ father and I love Motown music. Additionally, his family is from Detroit, the home of Motown. Miles was also named after Miles Davis, so this theme could not have been more fitting. It’s a bonus that Miles loves music and playing instruments. It’s in his DNA.”

The planner shares the details,

“I knew that I absolutely had to use Michelle Lee as my illustrator, having seen how she illustrates children from scratch. I wanted to form a band featuring Miles as the lead singer and my older son, niece, and nephew as his bandmates. She absolutely crushed this and essentially brought it to life.

Whimsy Pasadena was the perfect bright and empty space for this event. I reached out to Kat from Modest Peach once the idea came to life and told her I want to build a stage – with lights! I knew there was no one better to make this a reality for me. Miles name in lights was everything I dreamed of it to be. This could not have come together with out the incredible balloon installations from Shana Sharp. The corner piece was nothing short of stunning. Love Note Events amplified the entire room with her gorgeous florals, using beautiful tones of brown to match our color scheme.

Mini Mod rentals had the most perfect grey kids chairs that created the tone of the kids area. The disco balls were provided by 3 Little Birds and were the perfect sparkling piece of decor.”

The planner continues with the details,

“We went super big with entertainment for the kids. We featured a ball pit with a slide from Busy Bee, music by The BeatBuds and Little Artist Party had them decorating instruments. Toon Upz was incredible with the customized caricatures and Shana Sharp is a magician with her balloons, creating absolute masterpieces.

You can’t go wrong with Philly cheesesteaks, burgers and hoagies from Lee’s Hoagies. Shahan and his team did not disappoint. Charcuterie Abroad is so creative with her spreads. I trusted her to do something on brand and she made me a vinyl record charcuterie spread. It could not have been more gorgeous.

The focal point, upon entry, were the customized Miles coffee’s provided by Cappuccino Man. There was no detail spared here. We customized beers, hard seltzers, coffee cups, sleeves and everything in between. The signage made by Creative Amme added the perfect flair to every part of this celebration. Everyone was blown away from our drum set displayed cake. Sweet Deetails is incredible with the figureines and nailed the Miles topper. It was such a beautiful day filled with music and love. No one captures parties more beautifully, than Kara Coleen.”
