Everyone dreams of their high school prom! For this prom-themed 19th birthday party, those dreams come to life. The past few years have made proms hard to come by. This birthday girl wanted the chance to experience it for herself. From the perfect disco decor to the guest’s amazing outfits, we think she got her wish. These parents went above and beyond to throw the perfect party for their daughter.

Mercedes loved the terracotta trend recently, and since she had experienced a tumultuous year, we took her love for fall colors. We combined it with positive and hopeful messages throughout the night. Hence the “Good Vibes Only” sign on her backdrop & “You are Loved” place settings.
The backdrop was custom made, purposely made to look vintage while also being “prom-like.” Guests enjoyed utilizing this backdrop to re-create their prom poses throughout the night. You can’t have a prom without a place to lounge and hang out with your best friends. Our lounge corner was designed beautifully with a neutral boho rug, dried & fresh floral tower, and vintage coffee table to create a simple yet elegant vintage vignette.
Mercedes is known for her love for simple cakes, cheesecake & lemonade. She had her own “lemonade shelf” (lavender lemonade) and a simple berry cake contrasted with a complete floral topper. Individually packaged cheesecake shooters were also available for a covid friendly dessert table.

Our favorite part of the decor was our primary focal point – our bohemian hanging floral installation hovering over a terracotta and gold dining table. Incorporating the disco theme throughout, acrylic disc-like signs & an encouraging phrase were at the heart of each plate setting. Her table was also topped with a minimalistic terracotta baby’s breath centerpiece.
This disco-themed prom birthday party was made for a groovy night from her dessert table to her backdrop to her gobo-lighting. Most of Mercedes’ guests, including her grandparents and other adults at the party, also never experienced prom back in their day and utilized this event as their very own PROM party. Mercedes’s date was her Dad & brothers, and at the end of the night, Mercedes’ was crowned Prom Queen.
This event was hosted at Thread & Vine Communal, a new venue in Long Beach, CA, and is undoubtedly getting known for its modern and minimalist style.
