This party planning mama put a new spin on a fiesta theme for her son’s big one! Leah Carriger of Beijos Events threw a Lucha Libre first birthday fiesta complete with lucha libra stir sticks, Mexican papel picado, and of course, tacos! Did we mention it’s National Taco Day?! In addition to all the fun details and Mexican food (margaritas included), large Terracotta tiles and pots acted as signs and centerpieces, adding a bit of desert flair, which we love so much. There are plenty of cute details to enjoy and inspire, so we’ll let you get to it! Happy viewing!

A Lucha Libre First Birthday Fiesta
Leah says, As a proud mama of three, I have 2 girls that I have been dressing and planning for these past 5 years and then along came our son. I don’t know much about boys because growing up I only had a sister, so I was a little intimidated planning Henry’s 1st Birthday. I had no idea what to do, especially because for the first birthday you can really pick any theme since they don’t have a strong opinion about things yet. Anyway, I decided to go with my favorite theme to plan… a fiesta!!
I have never done this theme for any of my kids and I absolutely love it! I love the colors and all the fun details that come along with it. When I told my husband, he seemed kind of bored with the idea and told me “everyone does fiesta.” So, we took it one step further and made it a Lucha Libre theme. At the time, Henry was becoming a pretty chunky big boy, so we thought it was perfect for him!
One of my favorite details at a fiesta is the papel picado. We hung it outside, used it for flags at the place settings, and even integrated it into the invite. I loved carrying the reoccurring theme throughout the party. I also loved including the black and white color combo to make the fiesta a little more masculine. And I can’t forget the little details like the Mexican market favor bags and the Lucha Libre stir sticks (so cute)!! I really had a lot of fun with this one and hope you enjoy the details as much as I did! A big thank you to all of the amazing vendors who helped me carry out this vision!!
