When you combine a young couple in love, a beautiful vintage gown, and a scenic lake you are bound to create something stunning. Add Kandice Breinholt‘s keen eye and powerful photography and it’s a shoot to be rivaled. The bride, groom, and their photographer headed to Antelope Island to capture the moments before the wedding alongside the splendor of the Great Salt Lake.
About Courtney & Scott, Their love for each other is relatively new and they’re full of excitement; so many wonderful events and milestones lie ahead. Despite the newness, they’re completely comfortable in each other’s arms. They’re ready and eager to commit to forever. These two have absolutely no trouble displaying all of that for the camera. They’re romantic and easy-going. Totally and completely into each other. Best friends.
We wanted to shoot their formals somewhere remote and private. A simple location that could showcase their love for each other rather than overshadow it. Antelope Island, off the Great Salt Lake in Northern Utah, couldn’t have been more perfect. This winter session felt so warm as the glorious sunset enveloped this couple. The sunsets at Antelope can’t be beat and this particular one was breathtaking. Truly such a romantic setting and perfect for Courtney and Scott.
A setting such as this is also ideal for their vintage-inspired attire. Courtney’s dress is vintage and was perfectly found in just her size at a boutique in San Diego (Sparrow Bridal Boutique). The intricate details are stunning and so unique. Her hair and makeup were done by the talented Mindy K (of Simply Mindy K Hair and Makeup Artistry).
We were going for simple and lovely, but we were also going for a bit of an adventure. A formal session that could tell a story. Courtney and Scott walk together, hand-in-hand. Without a second thought, they climb up boulders in their delicate wedding attire and they embrace at the top. They look into each other’s eyes and, there, you find such joy and adoration for one another. There are views of sprawling land and lake behind them and scenes of unadulterated love and commitment when you see them with their arms wrapped around each other.
They’re about to marry and will surely enjoy the high energy that it will bring but, first, they made time to just calmly and simply be together. To stop time for just a moment and take it all in.
