Honeymoon Hotspot: Westin Maui Ka’anapali

“Wish you were here!” is often a phrase associated with Hawaii. But really, we wish you were, so you could also experience what was undoubtedly a perfect honeymoon experience. Our stay at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa Ka’anapali was nothing short of a dream come true. It is the ideal paradise for your honeymoon or your next romantic getaway.

Don’t get us wrong, we love to sun bathe by the beautiful beaches and pools, but we also love to get pampered, focus on wellness, and go on active adventures! Why choose when you can have it all? The Westin provided all of that and more. It offered us the perfect amount of heavenly relaxation, excursions, incredible dining experiences, and beautiful views. We can’t imaging a more perfect setting to escape and focus on romance.

Furthermore, here are all the reasons why a stay at the Westin Maui is an idyllic honeymoon:

The Hotel:

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa Ka’anapali is a beachfront resort that overlooks the picture-perfect, cobalt-blue ocean of the famous Ka’anapali Beach in Maui. The view from the room was surreal…a dream… almost too perfect to be real! A true picturesque resort (no filter needed, really). Among the 5 pools at the resort, our favorite was the Kauai pool, with a waterfall cave, which created the perfect amount of shade and sun while being in the water. There is also a water slide  at the main pool for kids to enjoy – but who said adults can’t?

On top of it all, the staff is truly accommodating so we had nothing left to do except relax, be-well, and just be us. A healthy lifestyle while traveling is important to us, and we were able to maintain that during our stay here. They even had a skinny cocktail menu! When picking, we suggest the Pineapple Refresh- the most delicious and refreshing cocktail. Don’t mind if we do one! (or two, or three- but who’s counting).

The location:

This resort is located in Ka’anapali, which is the original destination for the island of Maui. The property sits right on the beach, so you can be enjoying the pool, then take a dip in the ocean just a few steps away! Also, it’s right next to Whalers Village, which has more restaurants and great shopping. Being right by the ocean and a close enough drive to the mountains, the choice of activities were endless!

The Activities:

We didn’t come to Hawaii to just lay by the beach (but no judgement if you do!), we came to experience all that Maui has to offer; doing things that suit our lifestyle, while enjoying it together as a couple. First off, you haven’t had a true Hawaiian experience without going to a Luau – so we did just that! The Wailele Polynesian Luau Dinner Show held at the Westin Maui is rated the highest luau in all the land, and we can see why! From the amazing food and Mai Tais to the talented hula girls and fire dancing men, it’s a fun experience you can only get in Hawaii!

For a more active excursion, we chose to go on a Ka’anapali Skyline Tour, and go zip lining (for the first time!). We can’t begin to tell you how thrilling it was to soar above the Ka’anapali coastline. We felt like we were flying – taking in the breathtaking views of the pacific ocean and offshore islands (which included a secluded island that Jurassic Park was filmed on!). Speaking of Jurassic Park, we also hiked through East Maui Waterfalls & Rainforest. An area that made us  feel a part of the movie.

It doesn’t stop there. To top it off,  we went on the Gemini Charter’s Sunset Sail, and it was amazing to see the views from the other side. A perfect sunset and a giant rainbow created a totally a romantic atmosphere. The quintessential, date if you ask us. We packed in a lot of adventures on our stay, and are so glad to have these memories forever.

The Spa:

A honeymoon is not complete without a full spa experience. But we get it; it can be hard to justify time indoors when you’re at a tropical Hawaiian resort. But not to worry, Heavenly Spa at the Westin Maui has it all figured out with an ocean view! We opted for the couples massage in our own private room, with a bath soak at the end- it was heavenly (if heaven smelled like pineapple coconut massage oils, mmm!). It’s safe to say it was hands down the best spa experience ever.

Dining:

While there are plenty of other dining options nearby, the food at the Westin Maui gave us no need to leave! You can start your day with a fresh fruit & veggie smoothie, or with a create-your-own Bloody Mary Bar at Relish Oceanside (we taste tested both). When it comes to lunch it doesn’t get better than the all-natural Kobe beef burger from the Relish Burger Bistro!

Because we took full advantage of the romantic setting, our favorite meal was at the Heavenly View private sunset dinner. If that doesn’t sound romantic enough, it was also set under the beautiful Hale Aloha Gazebo (one of the 4 wedding venues on site). The search is over for the most romantic, sunset dinner! Paired with a private wait staff, custom menu with chef’s choices, and champagne (always yes to bubbles!), it was unbeatable. Add in the notorious Hawaiian sunset and it’s truly a must-try, dreamy dining experience! Wish you were here yet?

From poolside meals surrounded by palm trees, to oceanfront dining complete with tiki torches- there was a place for every mood and craving! Don’t feel like leaving the room? A full menu is offered through room service as well. And with the ocean-view room, you’ll never feel like you’re missing out.
