There’s something about Sonoma that encourages you to slow down. Softer mornings, longer dinners, and the kind of conversations that linger long past sunset. When we were craving a cozy, elevated girls trip, Farmhouse Inn in Forestville ended up being exactly what we didn’t know we needed.
Tucked into Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley, the property feels intimate from the moment you arrive. With just 25 rooms spread across six peaceful acres, Farmhouse Inn has that rare ability to feel luxurious without feeling overdone. It was originally a family homestead, and even now, there is a warmth to the experience that feels personal, like you are staying somewhere with a real story.

The Accommodations
Our rooms were one of the first things we fell in love with. Picture plush bedding, cozy details, and the kind of aesthetic that makes you immediately want to unpack and stay awhile. It was the perfect balance of elevated and comfortable. The kind of place where getting ready for dinner feels special, but curling up early with a glass of wine feels just as right.
Mornings at the FarmStand
One of the unexpected highlights of the trip was how we naturally fell into little rituals. Each morning started with coffee and tea on-property. Farmstand is the perfect coffee bar meets smoothie counter, and it is completely charming. We would grab our drinks and wander over to the firepit, easing into the day slowly with warm mugs in hand and that crisp Sonoma air.

Firepit Nights
While our mornings were peaceful, the evenings were pure magic. After dinner, we would gather around the firepit for wine tastings and s’mores, which somehow made the entire trip feel nostalgic and elevated at the same time. There is something about a glowing fire and a great bottle of wine that we enjoyed so much. It was cozy in that effortless, ‘we should do this more often’ kind of way.

The Food
We are still talking about the meals. Both breakfast and dinner were genuinely memorable, especially dining at Farmhouse Restaurant. Fresh, seasonal, and beautifully done without feeling fussy. Everything felt rooted in Sonoma’s local bounty, which made each meal feel connected to the place itself. Whether it was a slow breakfast to start the day or a long, lingering dinner, the food was one of the standout parts of the entire stay.

Why It Would Be So Special for a Wedding or Mini Moon
Spending time here, it was impossible not to notice how naturally the property lends itself to celebrations. The scale alone makes it feel incredibly special. Intimate enough for a full wedding weekend takeover, yet luxurious enough to feel like a true destination experience. You can easily picture welcome drinks by the firepit, wine country dinners under the stars, and slow, meaningful mornings with your favorite people.
It also feels especially perfect for a mini moon. With the on-site Wellness Barn, beautiful accommodations, and thoughtful experiences woven throughout the stay, it is the kind of place where you can truly unplug and soak it all in after a wedding. Whether it is spa treatments, wine tasting, or simply lingering over coffee in the morning, everything invites you to slow down and be present, which is exactly what a wedding escape should feel like.
