What does a typical day in your position look like?

It’s always a crazy dance between the creative and business sides of running your own company.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love interacting with my customers, whether it’s on social media, the phone or email. It’s energizing to talk to the people I design my products for, and when they send me images of their Society Social styled out in their homes — it’s tippy top!

Where do you find inspiration for your job as well as everyday life?

I’m so inspired by life’s shared moments. Whether it’s a raucous party or a quiet night at home spent with loved ones, furniture is going to be present in some way. I really try to put that love into each piece, and it’s truly an honor when I receive notes and pictures from my customers… “Your Sedgewick bar cart made it just in time for my bridal shower!” In a small way I get to contribute to these celebratory and shared moments that make life special.

What has been your favorite moment/event to be a part of with your job?

Oh so many! Seeing my first designs for the first time. My first feature ever—House Beautiful Magazine’s “The Best” and my shout out in Southern Living Magazine. I was the first to be featured in their new column “Designing Women” which focuses on creative women entrepreneurs across the South– it was such an honor to “bring it home” in a way. (I’m grew up in North Carolina!) And I felt like their creative really understood me—they told me their art director wanted me to dance on my tables. Fun and done!

Best business advice you’ve ever received?

My dad always says, “Rome wasn’t built over night.” Good things take time, not to mention really hard work.

What you wanted to be when you grew up: a litigation lawyer!

Beauty secret: Sleep

I would die to work with: Lilly Pulitzer. I know the brand already has a high end furniture line but I would just love to bring a proper Palm Beach bar cart to the masses! All the guests flitting about in neon Lilly prints or lounging in swaying hammocks and colorful peacock chairs, and the lady of the house caftan-clad pushing around a stocked faux bamboo bar cart. Can you imagine a more glamorous cocktail hour?

Secret talent:  I went to the regional spelling bee in middle school. Let’s hope I didn’t misspell anything in this interview 😉

I can’t live without: Bath & Body Works stress relief- eucalyptus spearmint lotion. It helps me fall asleep!
