Whimsical Woodsy Portland Wedding

This beautiful wedding in the middle of the portland woods is a dream scenario. The privacy, the canopy of trees over head, the twinkle lit & tented reception – it’s the making of a romantic wedding day to say the least. We love all the well thought out details, organic floral arrangements and simple, elegant style, all photographed beautifully by Katy Weaver Photography.

From the photographer, It was a hundred degrees that day, but under the soft shade of the trees in the Columbia River Gorge, Breanne and Matt hardly noticed at all. They were married on the grassy shore of Bridal Veil Lake, and relaxed afterwards at their whimsical reception, decorated beautifully with pink and coral pastel flowers, navy and gold accents, sparkling geodes and a playful theme based on the love between a bunny and a moose (she loves bunnies, and he is tall like a moose). They also incorporated their love of literature into the day by naming tables after their favorite books and using a vintage card catalog for their seating chart. The decor perfectly encapsulated their playful but stylish personalties and the night was beautifully relaxed, fun, and gorgeous.”From the bride:Matt is a a Unix and Cloud Systems Engineer and I’m a Science teacher. We met in school during an early morning rowing practice when Matt nearly squashed me during a set of co-ed plyometric exercises. With Matt graduating and moving to southern California, I moved to Oregon to pursue a love of the outdoors and sciences at Oregon State University. Fast forward ten years and we were living in southern California and recently engaged (it happened in the country-side of France!) and it was time to start planning. Matt and I knew that we wanted our wedding day to remain true to ourselves, with the perfect blend of traditional and fun. We knew the focus of our budget would be our venue and photographer. With the great majority of the guests traveling from out of state, including us, open invitation events were scheduled the days leading up to the ceremony. This enabled us to meet with our friends and family for a longer period of time than during a reception line and guests appreciated getting to know each other prior to the wedding so they were sitting with friends rather than strangers. Because the wedding was a destination, renting the majority of the decorations was a life-saver!
