The story behind it may even bring you as much joy as the images do.

It’s a small world when you end up getting married exactly where you first met, especially when it’s the backyard of the groom’s childhood home! Tyson and Adam met in the summer of 2011 at a party hosted by the groom and his best friends on Adam’s family estate in Ottawa, Canada. Little did the couple know then they would end up getting married nine short years later in that same backyard with many of the same friends that were there on that fateful night.

Tyson and her wedding planner, Courtney Leeder of Courtney Elizabeth Events, had planned a different event altogether when the couple was first engaged two years prior. They originally envisioned a large, luxurious wedding with all of their family and friends in one of the city’s most glamorous venues. However, in the midst of a global pandemic, plans had to change and with only a few weeks to spare the couple made the last-minute decision to pivot to an outdoor wedding on the groom’s family property just outside the city.

This wasn’t the last of the changes that COVID-19 would throw at this resilient couple, however. Just two days before the wedding, local gathering restrictions went from 100 people allowed outdoors to just 25 people, including wedding vendors. The couple and their planner worked around the clock to alter the day-of design, manage the changes to their guest list, and managed to thin out their wedding vendors to the absolute minimum to still be able to host their ceremony and reception. Despite the constant changes the couple had to endure, the day ended up exactly how they had dreamed it would. The all-white design was executed flawlessly and brought a clean, chic, and modern vibe to the outdoor space. It was important to the bride to still have the luxurious look-and-feel she originally wanted while assuring that it was completely cohesive with the natural elements they were working with on the property.

The bride stunned their guests with her beautiful Made With Love gown accented with a whimsical cape and champagne Manolo Blahnik Hangisi satin jewel pumps as she walked down the white acrylic aisle to a live pianist playing Florence & the Machine’s Never Let Me Go. Guests who were unable to attend in person got to view their intimate and heartfelt ceremony through a live-stream video and celebrated when the nuptials were complete as guests showered the couple with lavender seeds and lots of love.

The party continued under their stunning sailcloth tent accented with boho-inspired lounge furniture groupings, cocktail tables, and a white-washed custom wood bar for guests to enjoy delicious bites and libations. Edison bulb lights draped the tent ceiling and kept the party going until late in the evening despite the chilly fall air.

The bride and bridesmaids added matching white cashmere sweaters on top of their gowns to keep warm later in the evening which was a small detail that was so gratefully appreciated by Tyson’s girls. Other guests enjoyed cozy white blankets provided by the bride and groom and outdoor heaters helped to keep guests warm in the cooler Canadian climate. Although their wedding wasn’t what they were originally envisioned, it still ended up being everything Adam and Tyson wanted and more. They were surrounded by their nearest and dearest and felt the love far beyond the guests who were able to attend in person. At the end of the day, the couple was happy to have had the day come together so seamlessly and look forward to celebrating their new life together, pandemic or not.
