As most of you know I love everything that has to do with flowers! I find that a room or a wedding is incomplete without them. I looked hundreds of bouquets for inspiration during my wedding planning process and noticed two main types – Mono-floral versus Mixed bouquets. The difference between the two is that a mono-flora arrangement uses only one type of flower giving the bouquet a clean and classic look. A mixed arrangement has multiple kinds of flowers giving the bouquet a unique and modern look. I don’t think you can go wrong either way! Some of favorite wedding industry floral designers and experts weigh in below. The question is, do you like the look of a single type of flower in you bouquet or arrangement or are you all about mixing it up?
Meg from La Partie Events: I prefer a mixed bouquet because I’ve actually never done a mono-floral one before. It’s not really my style although I appreciate how clean and simple they can look.
Janie from The Bride’s Cafe: I love the monochromatic look and feel of floral bouquets. The look of the flowers all in the same color palette is just so chic and elegant and it also adds the perfect clean and sleek lines in the photos. True perfection and romance!
Carol from The Bride and Bloom: There is no right or wrong answer, it all depends on your wedding style and vision. Personally, I like mixed bouquets because it allows you to play with a wide spectrum of colors, including opposite (or complementary) colors that can add contrast and depth to your bouquet. Mixed bouquets also add visual interest through the use of different flower species, textures, shapes and sizes.
