A European-Inspired Garden Wedding

Set amongst the Hycroft Manor estate, this garden wedding carried a quiet European feel from start to finish. Planned and designed by Sydney Elliott and Co., and captured by Photography by Taiya, everything felt intentional without ever feeling overdone. From a moody, Wuthering Heights-inspired bridal look to garden ceremonies and an elegant reception, the day unfolded naturally within the estate, letting the setting and the couple lead the story.

The Inspiration

The inspiration for this garden wedding was rooted in the idea of bringing an elevated sense of European romance to the heart of Vancouver. Hycroft Manor felt like the perfect fit; a historic estate that already possesses a quiet, countryside-in-the-city feeling. The vision leaned into its natural character, drawing from its old-world architecture, garden surroundings, and timeless sense of elegance. The goal was a celebration that felt refined and intentional, with a soft nod to European luxury while still feeling true to its setting.

The Ceremony

The ceremony unfolded in the gardens of Hycroft Manor, with the estate’s historic backdrop setting a naturally romantic tone. Lush green hydrangeas lined the aisle and framed the altar, tying everything back to the surrounding landscape. It felt like an elevated garden ceremony that didn’t need much else, just a simple, thoughtful design that let the setting speak for itself.

Garden Portraits

Following the ceremony, the couple stepped away into the gardens of Hycroft Manor for a quiet moment together. With the celebration still unfolding nearby, they wandered through the grounds at unhurried, taking it all in as newlyweds. The estate’s gardens framed everything softly in the background, while the focus stayed exactly where it should – on the two of them and the ease between them in that moment.

The Reception

The reception leaned into a lush, romantic tablescape with overflowing florals, soft lace linens, and layered place settings that felt collected rather than overly styled. Delicate glassware and layered details gave everything an heirloom feel, while antique-inspired finishes with touches of gold brought a quiet warmth throughout. At the center, a decadent cake stood as the focal point – simple, elegant, and perfectly at home within the setting.

The day at Hycroft Manor unfolded with an easy sense of romance, where nothing felt overworked and the garden setting naturally carried the story. From the ceremony through the reception, everything stayed grounded in the space and in the couple, with a soft, timeless feel running through it all.
