A Destination Wedding in Cabo Filled With Texture and Romance

When your day job is surrounded by beautiful weddings, it’s only fitting that your own is something extraordinary. As the Director of PR and Operations at Be Inspired PR, Katie brought her expert eye for style to her and Jack’s destination wedding at Acre Los Cabos‘ newest venue, Los Agaves, planned by the company where she first got her start in the wedding industry with, Amy Abbott Events.

The Welcome Party: Setting the Scene

The celebration began at Hilton Los Cabos, where the couple hosted a relaxed “tacos and margs”-themed welcome party for their guests. With a neutral resort-attire dress code, guests mingled poolside under the stars, meeting, reconnecting, and easing into the weekend’s festivities.

Katie wore a vintage-inspired Stone Cold Fox dress that struck the perfect balance between playful and bridal, while Jack opted for a white linen set that the couple had found together in a local boutique in Punta Mita. They knew it was important for all the guests to have a chance to meet before the big day, as their guest count was small.

Guests were greeted with custom welcome bags lovingly assembled by Katie’s mom. Each woven tote included snacks, a printed itinerary, a thank-you card, custom “The Foleys Est 2024″trucker hats, and a mini emergency kit stocked with essentials, from vitamin C to electrolytes.

The Setting: Cabo’s Desert Oasis

Drawing inspiration from the architecture and natural textures of Mexico, Katie and Jack leaned into desert beauty for their design direction. Their destination wedding in Cabo embraced an organic color palette of warm neutrals, soft pastels, and subtle desert greens, layered with woven textures, ceramics, and natural stone.

Stationery & Day-Of Details: A Destination Design

Katie and Jack worked with Minted on custom save-the-dates and invitation suites featuring hand-drawn illustrations of their venue and subtle palm details. Each piece was wrapped in a printed vellum overlay and sealed with a palm-tree wax emblem engraved with a custom logo Katie designed and carried through their wedding details. She also hand-selected a collection of vintage stamps that perfectly complemented the Mexico-inspired aesthetic.

Getting Ready & The First Look: The Calm Before “I Do”

Katie and Jack spent the morning getting ready separately before driving to the venue with their immediate families. All captured by Eager Hearts Photo, Katie added her final touches in the brand-new, beautifully designed bridal suite at Los Agaves at Acre, wearing a stunning hand-beaded floral lace bridal robe from Le Rose. The couple chose to share a pre-ceremony first look and private vow reading, two moments they knew they wanted to include from the start, and were so glad they did, as it instantly eased any nerves and allowed them to be fully present for the rest of the day.

The Style: Bride & Groom

Katie’s gown, the Maras Dress by Kyha Studios evoked 90s minimalism, complete with a relaxed-fit halter and long neck ties extending to the length of the train, which felt effortlessly right for the Cabo heat. With her iconic dewy skin look and pulled-back hair that highlighted her neckline, Katie embodied an “elevated version” of herself while staying comfortable in the coastal humidity. Her bouquet featured tulips, orchids, bellflower, and spirea for an organic touch.

Jack’s look was timeless with a classic black tuxedo and bow tie from Generation Tux paired with black suede Gucci loafers. He included heartfelt details like a handkerchief from his grandmother’s wedding, gifted by his mother.

The Ceremony

Set against the sweeping desert landscape, Katie and Jack exchanged vows surrounded by muted pastel florals and earthy greens. Rows of wicker chairs lined the aisle, where white parasols and “for your happy tears” tissue packets awaited guests.

Katie walked down the winding staircase to Canon in D, the same song her mother and mother-in-law walked down the aisle to, alongside her father, who also officiated the ceremony. Their recessional to Avicii’s “Waiting for Love”, performed by a live violinist and pianist, marked the joyful beginning of married life.

Cocktail Hour: Golden Light & Lively Moments

Following the ceremony, guests gathered for a golden-hour cocktail hour surrounded by desert blooms and sun-soaked views, one of the most picturesque parts of this destination wedding in Cabo. A live mariachi band set the tone with vibrant music as guests mingled and soaked in the scenery. One of Katie and Jack’s favorite design details was the creative seating display – glass vessels etched with names and table numbers, accented by fruits, flowers, and fresh greenery brought to life by Baja Boutique Rental Company and Kamala Floral Design.

The Reception: Desert Hues & Handcrafted Details

The reception space carried the desert-meets-modern aesthetic that defined their destination wedding in Cabo. Wooden tables were paired with rattan chairs, stoneware plates, and white-and-green bud vases filled with ranunculus, tulips, and lisianthus. One of Katie’s favorite details was the embroidered napkins by The Handkerchief Shop doubling as custom place cards, hand-stitched with each guest’s name.

The lounge areas featured woven furniture, velvet stools, all complete with a “Foley Forever” neon sign that the couple’s planner, Amy, surprised them with on the wedding day, a heartfelt nod to their new shared name.

Dining & Dancing

As golden light faded into evening, guests enjoyed heartfelt speeches from family and friends before dining on a menu that featured canapés such as beef skewers, quesadilla a comal, fresh-catch tostaditas, and pescado crudo. The seated dinner continued with beet salad, cheddar biscuits, and fried green tomatoes, followed by entrées of Acre’s catch of the day, whole roasted organic chicken, and braised beef.

Katie later changed into a ruffled mini dress and Nike sneakers to dance beneath the stars. Their DJ performed alongside a live violinist and saxophonist, keeping the celebration electric late into the night. Guests toasted with Carajillo coffee cocktails, visited a cigar bar created for Jack, complete with custom wedding-logo wrappers, and cheered the couple on during a sparkling send-off to end the night.

From the sun-drenched ceremony to the lively dance floor under the stars, Katie and Jack’s destination wedding in Cabo was a weekend overflowing with joy. Looking for more destination wedding inspiration? Check out this Multi-Cultural Wedding in Positano!
