Bright Red Valentine’s Day Makeup Tutorial

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to get dolled up! Wether you’re celebrating with your galentines or your S.O. it’s an excuse to add a little something special to your beauty routine. How about bombshell waves, sparkly eyes, and a bold red lip? Makeup artist Stacie, of Stacie Ford Weddings, offers this bright red Valentine’s Day makeup tutorial for that exact look. And to top it off, Styles on B New York shows us how to create glamorous waves. Together this look is equal parts fun, romantic, and bold, so you’ll feel totally confident and beautiful this V-Day.

1. Start with dry hair and apply a quarter-sized amount of mousse evenly throughout. We love Toni & Guy Prep Volume Plumping Mousse.

2. Beginning at the top of your head, take medium-sized sections of hair (about 2″ squares) and curl from root to tip with a 1” wand or curling iron.

3. Immediately take the heated section of hair and wrap onto a Velcro roller. Secure the roller with a clip. Tip: if you have hot rollers you can use those instead of curling iron + Velcro roller. We love Conair’s self-gripping rollers, which you can find at most drug stores.
4. When your entire head is in rollers, finish with a little spritz of hairspray and allow your hair to cool in the roller set. This creates soft, natural volume.

1. I started by prepping her skin with Hourglass Veil mineral primer to create a smooth canvas for the makeup.

2. I then used Temptu’s natural air brush makeup system in Ivory  for a flawless and radiant complexion. I then applied Bobbi Brown’s intensive skin serum concealer to minimize

darkness and brighten under the eyes.

3. Next, I swept Dior forever & ever control loose powder gently in a circular motion on her face to create a smooth matte look.

4. I then used Becca multi-tasking perfecting powder with their one perfecting brush to sculpt and contour her face for dimension.

5. Next I moved along to eyes and used Too Faced shadow insurance Anit-crease primerwith a small tapered brush before applying eye shadow.

6. To create Emily’s  romantic valentines day look, I choose Urban Decay Moondust eye shadow in cosmic, space cowboy and horizon. These glitzy and fun shadows were the perfect texture and color to create emily’s playful look! I started by applying cosmic first (a lighter icy hue) to the inner corner of her eyes and tear duct for pop and then patted a touch to the center of her lower lid. I then used horizon lightly in the crease and space cowboy along the outer lash line.

7. To tight-line her eyes, I used Urban Decay 24/7 waterline eye pencil in Legend underneath her upper lash line.

8. Then, I applied Nars matte lip pencil in Dragon girl and Becca Cosmetics hi-ligter in Champagne pop to the upper cheek, bridge of nose and cupids bow!

9. To finish off the look I placed Ardel individual trio lashes from the center of her eye gently to the outer edge, creating a fan like shape. I then lined using Tarte clay paint liner in black to create a bold winged eye and used a clear brow gel from Anastasia beverly hills

To finish your hair…

After makeup, carefully take out the rollers.  You can give your hair a little extra volume by backcombing at the root.  With a nylon bristle brush, gently brush through the curls, creating soft, bouncy waves. We love Denman nylon bristle brushes.

Fix any stray pieces by wrapping them around a curling iron or wand. Tip: in general, wrap pieces away from your face.

Finish with another spritz of hairspray. If your hair is easily weighed down, avoid using too much spray — the roller set means you need less product! We love Sebastian Shaper Medium Hold Hairpsray.
