For Chelsea, a summer afternoon became a backyard trip to the Italian countryside, complete with the scent of fresh dough hitting a hot oven and glasses clinking under fringe-trimmed umbrellas. Planned and designed by Kellee Khalil of Loverly with support from Leila Lewis of Be Inspired PR in bringing the celebration to life, this Italian-inspired bridal shower felt less like a party and more like an afternoon spent at a family-run trattoria, held in the backyard of a private home and built around rich color, fresh food, and the kind of easy, gather-round-the-table energy that only Italy seems to inspire.
Bellisima Touches
From the moment guests arrived, the theme was unmistakable. A mood board was shared ahead of time, inviting everyone to dress in the colorscape of the day: rich reds and crisp whites layered with the warm, sun soaked tones of the Italian countryside. The result was a crowd that felt like part of the design itself, each guest adding to the palette against the backdrop of the party.
That backdrop, quite literally, was a heart-shaped photo booth setup that became one of the most photographed corners of the celebration, giving guests a place to capture the day in true countryside style.
An Italian cafe playlist played throughout the afternoon, filling the backyard with the same easy, unhurried energy you would find at a table in Rome or Florence.
Cin Cin: Tablescape Details
The tabletop told its own story. Red gingham tablecloths set the base, paired with cafe chairs that gave the whole setup an easy, trattoria feel. San Marzano tomato cans were repurposed as centerpieces, filled with chamomile flowers for a soft, garden like touch, while fresh tomatoes sat at each place setting as a playful nod to the theme. Ivory umbrellas trimmed in fringe added height and texture across the space, adding to the look of a countryside trattoria and giving guests shade to gather under throughout the afternoon.
That’s Amore: Like a Big Pizza Pie
No Italian celebration is complete without pizza, and this one delivered in the most memorable way. Pizza ovens were brought on site so guests could watch and taste fresh pizzas made to order throughout the party. Custom pizza boxes printed with the couple’s names were styled as part of the decor, and at the end of the celebration, the couple got to take their pizzas home in them as a sweet keepsake from the day.
Famiglia First: A Heartfelt Welcome
Partway through the celebration, Chelsea’s sisters in law to be stood up together to welcome the bride along with her friends and family, a personal moment that set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. It was teary mixed with laughter and it brought everything full circle.
