The bride shares…

Having been in the bridal industry for 8 years in the past, there was a lot of pressure to have a really “breathtaking” wedding. Everyone expected my gown to be stunning and the wedding itself to be the most unexpected. But because I was in the industry for so long and had seen so much, I knew I wanted the wedding to be simply “us”. Dave is a very simple guy with amazing taste. I also have champagne taste, so combined, we could’ve made this wedding very excessive and expensive in details.

Dave and I decided on Palm Springs because we love the architecture and the cool desert vibe. After just a few venue visits, The Avalon Palm Springs was the clear winner for our 50 guest intimate wedding. The space speaks for itself. We wanted our decor to be modern and minimal, and to compliment the space effortlessly.

For the ceremony, we didn’t want to take away from the mountains and palm trees behind us. We didn’t add any flowers, and kept the greens prominent with touches of monstera leaves behind us. We were most excited about cocktail hour because of the gorgeous pool! We wanted the cocktail hour to be at sunset, so the amber uplights can be seen, and our light up swan could be a fun focus. We also added about 20 small pink flamingos to give the pool more playfulness. When standing at the cocktail hour and looking across the pool, you could see the magic of our reception. Our florist decided to put our custom acrylic seating chart right at the entrance of our reception, which gave it so much depth. I loved being able to see past the acrylic, and the feeling of anticipation made it so much more exciting!

As the reception arrived, I remember the feeling of excitement of how well the details turned out! Dave surprised me with a custom neon light that had our hashtag on it (#davinieps). It made the wedding look less uptight and more of a dance party. We had white tulips, monstera leaves with varying heights of vases, and tons of candles on all 7 tables. The most amazing details were the custom cactus wedding favors we made for our guests, and the acrylic wood placecards. We hate underwhelming favors that have no use after that night. Our guests were able to bring these items back home and forever remember their very special weekend in Palm Springs.

During the fun hours of the night, we wanted our guests to relax and remember they were on vacation, not just a wedding. We provided a hookah station (huge hit!) and glow stick cotton candy.

We’ve been told by all of our guests that the details of our wedding were well thought out and so “us”. I have to thank my 2 friends for customizing my signs, invitations, wedding logo and all the acrylics (drink menu, seating chart and placecards). They truly made our wedding dream come true and personalized our desert wedding for us!
