Surprise Engagement Party by Birds of a Feather Photography

Robin, another great industry friend and one half of the talented Be Inspired Tastemaker team GATHER Events, was recently engaged to her boyfriend of 4.5 years!  He whisked her away to a romantic weekend in Palm Springs, the same spot where their first getaway together happened when they were first dating.  Ray popped the question while sitting atop the same rock formation they hiked to all those years before and then a weekend full of engaged bliss followed at the Ace Hotel.

When they got back from their exciting trip, Ray had one more surprise in store for Robin…

The day we returned to LA we were scheduled to meet up with my best friend Heather and her hubby Lewie to celebrate HER birthday later that evening. We walked into our house after our roadtrip to find Heather and Lewie sitting on our couch! They led us into our bedroom where they had a brand new sparkly gold dress and earrings laid out for me and an outfit for Ray to change into. Puzzled, we changed and then followed them out to our backyard (no peeking!) and to my surprise, all of our close LA friends and family were there, along with a fully decorated backyard courtesy of GATHER Events, a food and drink spread and a film and photo crew to capture it all! My LA friends even got my Chicago besties to participate in the surprise via Skype. I’m pretty sure my facial expressions in the photos say it all. I.HAD.NO.IDEA. I think Ray’s face was even better though. He got me…twice!  Turns out, everyone was in on it. Before leaving for Palm Springs, Ray arranged everything through Sarah from GATHER and my friend Heather, they spread the word and dozens of people came together with 2 days notice to provide their creative and culinary talents and support to make the evening such a special, touching, and unexpected celebration for us. It was magical!
