Rainy Day Fashion with Little Miss Fearless

Little Miss Fearless herself is stopping traffic, and beating the rain this Spring in bright colors and statement making accessories! We want to copy her look even if it’s not raining outside! This laid-back fashionista is telling us a little bit about herself (wait until you hear her secret talent!) and giving us tips on beating the rainy day blues– or at least looking like you are ;).

We always love your style and catching up on Little Miss Fearless! When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging in August 2012 (almost two years ago). It has been a wild ride, but when the going gets tough, I am always reminded of why I started and that was to face the fear of trying (purposefully putting yourself in the often critical eyes of other fashion lovers takes guts) and I hoped to inspire people to accept their imperfections as I try to with mine.

What style would you say you are?  Is it always changing or would you say you stick to one more than another?

I feel I’m a little of both. I love trying new things, but there are some habits I will never break. I would describe my style as colorful, classy and often casual (I love heels, but I always lean toward flats first).

Spring is always a fun time for fashion! But what about those Spring Showers!?  How do you stay fab on a dreary spring day?

First, I learned the hard way that Hunter Boots are a lifesaver for wet climates. It took me ruining a few pairs of flats and leather boots before I bought some Hunters and now I have three pairs. They are all bright colors and such a fun way to brighten things up when the depressing rain sets in (I am clearly a fan of sunshine).

What are your go-to accessories for a rainy day?

If I’m going out, I’ll always grab my Hunters (usually with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings) and a sweater. A cute umbrella is never a bad idea either. 😉

The ultimate question…what to do with your hair when there’s moisture in the air?!

My hair is hit or miss with moisture. In tropical climates, it actually gets really curly. In Utah, the moisture makes it fall flat. So my go-to hairdo is a lose side braid. If the frizz comes out, it at least looks like I meant for the style to look messy.

What are your go-to shops for stocking up on spring fashion, including rainy day gear?

J.Crew and J.Crew Factory are my go-to stores for neons and bright colors/patterns (and umbrellas!). I always keep an eye out for spring accessory sales at department stores like Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdales and Nieman Marcus. Nordstrom is price-matching friends and family deals from other stores right now, so I just picked up a pair of mirrored Ray-Ban aviators at a really great price. The new tint will add even more fun to my bright spring wardrobe.

What are your favorite fashion trends happening for spring this year?

I am loving Converse All-Stars (just picked up a pair in the slip-on styling that I know I’ll be wearing non-stop for the next six months), mirrored aviators, anything chartreuse, baby blue or light pink, and light-wash, destroyed denim. Crossbody bags are also a fave that fit perfectly with my laid-back style.

Fashion Trend you wish would come back: Overalls (lucky me!) and crimped hair

Beauty secret: Bare Minerals concealer (powder) in ‘well-rested’. Be sure to get the concealer brush. I cannot live without these!

Celebrity style crush: Zoe Saldana, Cameron Diaz and Olivia Palermo

Secret talent: I can blow a Hershey kiss up in the air and make the wrapper fall off so all I catch in my mouth is the chocolate. (Sometime I’ll post an IG video to prove it.)

I can’t live without: Besides my supportive husband and Bare Minerals concealer, I can’t live without my Mac lipstick in ‘Crème Cup’ or ‘Angel’ – I wear both like a chapstick every single day.
