Our Fall Wine List

When fall rolls around, there are cozy nights in, holidays to enjoy, and time with friends and family who are back from their summer vacations, which makes it the perfect time to entertain! And what goes better with entertaining than wine? Our fall wine list is made up of rich wines to sip and savor, wines that pair well with hearty soups and other fall foods, and wines that give you an excuse to cheers. Here’s what we will be enjoying this season:

Our first recommendation comes from the experts at Thirsty Nest: “Pinot Noir is a perfect fall wine since it’s transitional by nature. It’s a red wine yet it’s light and bright and pairs perfectly with all of Fall’s best seasonal ingredients. I love this one from Central Otago, which is a small cool region on the southern tip of New Zealand. The name says it all – what’s not to like about Loveblock for Fall!”
When it comes to our favorite Pinots, we love Union Wine Co.’s Underwood Pinot Noir (also available in a can version!), Chloe Pinot Noir, and our newest favorite from Trader Joe’s, MoonX Pinot Noir. These light-to-medium bodied reds are the perfect complement to cooler weather and fall harvest foods.

White wine lovers will be happy to hear you don’t have to stow away your chilled favorites for next summer. Hold onto summer a bit longer with this Sauvignon Blanc that boasts aromas of grapefruit, passionfruit and other tropical fruits. It’s a household favorite year-round but its notes of cranberry give a nod to the fall season.

I Quercioli Lambrusco Dolce NV Reggiano

“As it cools down you don’t need to put that ice bucket away quite yet. Lambrusco is a deliciously fizzy red that allows you to bring a little sparkle into sweater season. This dry bubbly pairs perfectly with your weeknight pizza or pasta with late Summer/early Fall tomatoes,” say the experts at Thirsty Nest

Justin 2016 Savant

With a combo of 2 of our favorite grapes – Cabernet and Syrah, it’s like Justin Winery created this incredible Paso Robles with us in mind. It’s really rich, making it perfect for a hearty fall dinner party, and it’s just soooooo good.

Speaking of Cab… Craftwork Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious and really affordable! We always pick up 2 bottles during the 5cent wine sale at Bevmo :). And when you’re at TJ’s, another favorite is Ravage Cabernet. Flavors of dark berries with vanilla and mocha to make the wine a perfect pairing for hearty and comfort-food dishes.

Zolo Malbec

Any other Argentine Malbec fans out there? This one, from the Mendoza wine region in Argentina is the perfect bottle to bring out for your Thanksgiving/Friendsgiving celebrations as it pairs well with sweet and savory dishes and meats and has a semi-mild flavor. Plus, at $14 a bottle, it doesn’t hurt to always have a bottle on hand for impromptu gatherings.

Finally, Thirsty Nest recommends the perfect hostess gift. As the holidays are soon to be upon us I love to bring a bottle of dry rosé to dinner parties. You don’t need to know what they’re serving, this one will pair with almost anything. The creator of this wine has a serious Rosé Resume (yes, that’s a thing) so you can trust you’re getting a great value for the price.
