DIY Basket Pendant Lamp from At Home in Love

You know we’re always up for a good DIY and when we wanted to do one for the home, we knew we had to go to Aileen from At Home in Love for something amazing!  She tapped into one of the hottest home trends right now and made it as simple as pie for you to recreate!  Behold…the woven DIY basket pendant lamp!  Whether it’s hanging over your kitchen counter or your dining room table, these hanging lights are the perfect addition to your home!  Read how Aileen made them and then try some for yourself!

From Aileen…

I’ve been obsessed with woven pendants for awhile now (I wrote a post about them here), so when I saw this basket at Target the wheels started turning. I decided to turn the basket into a pendant of my own–and it was one of the easiest DIY projects I’ve ever done!

Supplies:
Basket
Scissors
Light Kit

Step 1:

Cut the handles off your basket

Step 2:

Cut a hole in the bottom big enough to fit the cord through

Step 3:

Slip the cord kit through the hole, then rewire the light (make sure the power is off first).

That’s it! So easy, right? Let me know if you end up making a basket pendant of your own–I’d love to see it. For more easy DIYs and decorating ideas, head over to my blog, At Home in Love. You can also find me on InstagramFacebookPinterest, and Twitter!

  1. That’s so beautifully rustic and just makes everything around it look even more pretty! Do you think I could spray paint it prior to doing the actual DIY?? Like a bright magenta or turquoise maybe?

  2. We think that would be awesome! Maybe only spray the outside just for safety reasons with the heat of the bulb and the paint 😉 We think a dip-painted basket could look great too!
