Working Mom Jacqui Saldana of Baby Boy Bakery

  • Name: Jacqui Saldana
  • Company: Baby Boy Bakery
  • City: Los Angeles, California

We’re excited to be featuring two of our favorite things today – an inspiring working mom and an ethical company that gives back! We got to virtually sit down with Jacqui Saldana of Baby Boy Bakery on the incredible community she’s established through her blog and instagram. If you haven’t heard of Jacqui before, we’re so glad we get to share! She also just recently partnered with another favorite of ours, 31 Bits jewelry, to create a ‘Mommy & Me’ line. We love the pieces she designed and know you will to! Here’s a peek into her world, her projects, and a fun photoshoot full of sweetness! Also, a bit about her everyday life with her family. Including her adorable (almost) one-year-old daughter, Mila!

We love following along with Baby Boy Bakery and are so inspired by the positive community you've created. What are you working on now?

I have had such a fun and exciting time working on so many different things! With my daughter’s 1st birthday right around the corner, I’m going to focus on that. Last year I wrote a baby book where mamas can write down memories of their first year with their baby. I received a lot of requests for a toddler version. So I wrote one and it comes out later this year.

Tell us about your new jewelry line with 31 Bits! What was the inspiration?

I’ve done a lot of designing for different brands now and I’m proud to say that my children have always been the inspiration. For the mom+me jewels I wanted to design something with an heirloom feel. A piece that mothers and daughters who become mothers would want to pass down. A piece that lives within family forever. The other necklace I designed I wanted specifically for mamas! Mamas who work hard day in and day out but still want to throw something on that makes them feel good. It’s a simple piece that you can dress up or down. It adds an element of beauty to any outfit … a little deserving glam even just for a trip to Target.

We love that it's a mommy + me collection - What's your favorite activity to do with your daughter, Mila?

Right now Mila is crawling everywhere and it’s really fun to throw a blanket out with some toys and play. I love to get down on her level and help her learn her toys and make her laugh. If you follow me on social media, you know we also love going to Disneyland. It’s an activity I did with my son and now continue to do so with my daughter. It’s our thing and we love it.

You've worked on a lot of fun collaborations - what's next?

I have! When I look back on this year and last I am surprised and feel so blessed! I have a lot going. But busy is good. For rest of the year I’m going to focus on my brand Baby Boy Bakery Kids and my Toddler memory book that is coming out.

With so much going on, do you have a go-to way to unwind?

Yes! My husband and I travel as a family to unwind. We love doing things outdoors. But I am never too far, I’m actually answering these questions while on vacation in Hawaii! When not on vacation, I work out. I love going to SoulCycle to unwind and get out any angst or frustration I may be holding on to that day. Dan and I also leave our baby with grandparents when we need alone time. Date nights are always refreshing!

What's the best business advice you've ever received?

To only do what makes you happy. If you say yes to something that doesn’t make you happy it won’t be your best work. It seems so simple, but a lot of times we say yes just because. Just because we need experience, just because it’s a big partner or promotion or just because we need the money. But if it doesn’t make you happy at the start it isn’t worth it. Life is too short for un-happy.
