Modern & Moody Geometric Wedding

What do you get when you pair a trendy bride with her traditional groom? A stunning and soft, yet moody geometric wedding! Not only is the decor beautiful but so is the blush and burgundy color palette – swoon! The wonderful couple said ‘I Do’ in a ceremony that was just perfect for each of their styles in Temecula, California. And we think you’ll love it as much as they did!

Planner & Designer Kelsey Rae Designs says, When Sara first reached out to me to help with the design of her wedding, I gushed hard. She’s a coordinator herself, so you imagine how honored I felt that she wanted to bring me on to help marry both her + her future hubby-to-be’s styles together. And the fact that her style was on trend + super rad, was just an added bonus. I literally hit the jackpot with these two.

You can imagine my surprise when I found out that Tony was more drawn to a traditional look, with draping and blush flowers + Sara was drawn to industrial modern, mixed metals + moody tones. Quite the stark contrast. I really tried to bring these two styles together with hints of softness in the draping at the ceremony site and touches of lighter florals to contrast the moody tones happening in other parts of the design.

The end result… perfection.

From the Bride:

“I’m pretty sure the day after my husband and I became engaged, I dove head first into planning. As a wedding planner myself, I couldn’t wait another day to plan my dream wedding. Not to mention, we had been together for over 7 years by that time, so I had lots of ideas!

I quickly realized that my then fiancé and I had completely different wedding styles. Like polar opposites. I wanted something a bit moody, lots of dark jewel tones, mixed metals, and touches of black. Tony, on the other hand, wanted something very traditional and basically everything I didn’t want. That’s where Kelsey of Kelsey Rae Designs came in. We met at a winery (discovered our common love for sangria) and discussed how to make both of our styles cohesive. She quickly assured me that the two styles would work very well together, and we were off and running!

The biggest challenge for me was definitely committing to a decision. It’s so easy for me to give advice and suggestions to my clients. But for me, I second guessed everything! I kept hearing “You’re a wedding planner, it’s going to be the wedding of the century!” No pressure, guys.

I think the only thing I never second guessed were the guest tables and chairs. Witty Rentals has these amazing wood top tables with black metal legs and white bucket seat chairs. As soon as I saw them, I knew they would be a perfect way for me to add my edgy touch, and have my husband’s style still come through with tabletop items. Combine that with a sweet little vignette they styled for me and I was so impressed. They were the first vendor I booked, before I even secured our venue!

We decided to use the chairs for the ceremony as well and I’m so glad we did. Kelsey showed me a photo from another wedding where they had used a hexagon shaped arch from Rustic Events. Knowing that I wanted to incorporate hexagon marble pieces, this was an easy decision. Although a bit of begging was done in order to convince Tony! The combination of the white bucket seat chairs and the hexagon arch made our ceremony look irresistible. We decided to drape the arch with a bit of blush silk chiffon in order to incorporate Tony’s style. The addition of the gorgeous floral arrangement from Sweet Stems made it absolute perfection.

For our reception tables, I wanted to keep it clean and modern, and incorporate in touches of gold. Loren of Four Things Paper did a gorgeous job of hand writing all of our guest’s names onto the marble pieces at each place setting. I rented gold geometric glass pieces and we placed individual flower stems in each one. Being that our wedding was in the Fall, I wanted to incorporate touches of burgundy. We added in a few pops of burgundy flowers and continued that with the napkins and bridesmaids dresses from BHLDN.

We had so many favorite moments of our day. Walking down the aisle to the absolute best song (Stand by Me by Ki:Theory), seeing each other for the first time, and all of our crazy photo booth shenanigans. But our favorite by far was walking down the aisle after just being married. Walking past all of our smiling friends and loved ones who were all now joined together, cheering us on. Wow. It was an amazingly overwhelming feeling of love and we will never forget it.”
