10 Fun Workouts To Try This Summer

We like to focus on our health year-round, but let’s be honest, there’s something about summer (we’re pretty sure it’s the short shorts and bikinis on deck) that kicks our booties into gear to get in shape. So, we have been trying out our fair share of workouts both at home (thank you, YouTube) and at new gyms (thank you, Class Pass). And today, we’re sharing the fun workouts we have tried and loved with you here. Give one or all of these a go when you’re in a fitness rut, looking to embark on your workout journey, or just want to try something new and exciting.

Fun Summer Workouts

1. For a workout at your fingertips, download the Love Sweat Fitness app. There’s a free version and a paid version of this app, and the daily at-home workouts are easy to do anywhere! It also has features like playlists within the app and a hydration tracker to keep you drinking enough water all day long. Plus, it’s super user-friendly.

2. Cardio Pilates – This style workout is a combination of both the treadmill and a pilates reformer—our two favorites in one! There are multiple studios in LA that are now offering classes, examples include: Coreology around Los Angeles and the South Bay, and Fitmix Studio in Los Angeles.

3. Tone it Up App – Whether you choose from an on demand workout, guided by gifs, or join a class in real time, the Tone It Up app will hold you accountable. You can do all the workouts from the comfort of your home or your favorite gym, and when they start at just 5 minutes, you can squeeze in a workout anywhere!

4. For those of us who like a variety of workout styles, FlowLIFT Fitness, which is influenced by yoga, Pilates, and weight training, is just the thing. Created by the founders of Buddhi Yoga, it is a new mat-based, music-driven strength training workout using light ankle and hand weights that leans and tones all over. It’s an online workout so it can be take anywhere in the world at anytime and is also available at its home studio in La Jolla, Buddhi Yoga.

5. For a free and easy way to get motivated, give Whitney Simmons a follow. Her workouts are available right on your feed and super easy to follow. Plus (and maybe best of all) they are totally free!

6. Blogilates We love this YouTube workout channel with Cassey Ho! She makes easy to follow videos that you can do at home. And since it’s a free online resource, it’s especially nice for students or anyone on a budget who doesn’t want to fork over the funds to pay for workout classes. One of our favorite routines Cassey does is this Inner Thigh workout. Burn baby, burn.

7. If you prefer High Intensity Interval Training, commonly referred to as HIIT, head to Popsugar Fitness‘ channel for an intense but fun 30 minute workout that will surely whip you into shape.8. Any fellow yogis out there? Try practicing Yoga with Adriene on Youtube when you want to get your zen on but can’t hit up your favorite studio. You can select a video based on the body part you want to focus on or on your goal, i.e. weight loss or stretching.

9. If you want a specific program and timeline to shape up for summer, join in on the Women’s Health Summer Workout Challenge. It focuses on building strength with trainer Bree Branker over the course of 4 weeks, and features designated workouts for upper body, lower body, full body, and abs that you improve at each week.

10. Kayla Itsines offers another organized program for those of you who can stick to something for 12 weeks. If that’s you, bravo! You will love her Sweat App, which guides you easily through her 28 minute workouts that increase in difficulty over the course of the 12 weeks. With a timer and how-to images of the moves, it’s fool-proof, and yes, fun!
