Lauren’s Outdoor Northern California Wedding with Herbs and Birds!

Hi everyone!! It’s Lauren over here at Be Inspired PR!

Today is mine and my husband Nathan’s FOUR YEAR anniversary! I can’t believe it’s already been that long… It seems like just yesterday we said I Do. My Northern California wedding was inspired by herbs and the outdoors. We achieved the organic feel by infusing our bouquets with herbs, incorporating greens, yellows and whites. For a fun touch we found vintage bird cages and filled them flowers to give them an overgrown look.

I outfitted my bridesmaids in sage green dresses from Banana Republic. To this day I still absolutely love the dresses that had spider mums embroidered on them, and wish I would’ve gotten one for myself! My dress was an A-symmetrical knee length dress, but fit me perfectly as a full length gown with a train! We decided to add straps to it because I didn’t want to be one of those brides that had to keep pulling up her dress! I decided I didn’t want to wear a veil, I was going for a more casual feel… so I chose to do something a little different and created a thick headband using fishnet we found at a fabric store. The groomsmen wore white button down shirts, khakis and Rainbow sandals to keep with the casualness!

My mom was a Home Ec teacher and extremely crafty! She and I made the centerpieces, cake stand, found the bird cages, and hung mason jars filled with flowers from shepard hooks. For our favors we gave our guests homemade spice rubs! Each guest got a jar full of one of four flavors – Cajun, BBQ, smoked or Caribbean. They were a  huge hit!

Although my style has changed over the past 4 years, I still love my wedding and am so excited to share it with you!

For the bouquets I wanted yellow and white flowers with lots of herbs for the greenery

Daniel Tosh came to our wedding, he’s been friends with my husband for years

My new nieces at the time in all matching dresses! They were so cute!

Our centerpieces were lanterns full of  herbs and flowers

We decided not to have a cake, and instead had cupcakes with a pair of birds as our topper!

  5. Your wedding looked gorgeous! I love your dres, head wrap and the bridesmaids dressed. And um Daniel Tosh at the wedding? I am SO jealous 🙂

  6. Love the birds, on the cupcakes and the bird cage, the outdoor setting in beautiful, and it seems like it was a really fun day, I love flip-flops for outdoor weddings and have been able to do a couple myself. A note of caution on the cage motif though, you have to be careful of the symbolism. I just hope that Mr. Nathan has not been kept in a cage all this time! Congrats guys! LOVE the post!

  7. It seems like yesterday! The pictures do not do you justice of how really beautiful you looked. Love you for ever and always.

    Your Husband
    Nathan
