Blue & Gray Travel Inspired Nursery

The details shine in this travel inspired nursery on our baby blog today. Mom and photographer, Brita Photo, decorated baby Atlas’ room in typical baby boy shades of blue and grey, but upped the ante with details from her family’s personal travels. The goal was to create an environment that encouraged adventure – but was still calm enough for a nursery. We think she nailed it.

Brittany shares, Neutrals and soft, pastel colors are my love language.  For our baby boy’s travel-inspired nursery, we picked different shades of blue and gray, but added bold colors of red and teal to really make it pop.  My vision is to make his room fun and adventurous, yet calming and peaceful.  We really wanted to display and share our love for traveling with him; whether that was through our photographs, travel-inspired decor, or souvenirs that we had bought from our trips together.

When we were in Iceland last year, my husband and I picked out a few postcards thinking it would make for a meaningful decoration for our future baby’s room someday.  At the time, we had no idea that I was pregnant with a baby boy.  We got home and found out 2 weeks later that I was pregnant again.  Life has a funny way of working things out.

Since Iceland, we’ve added postcards from our trip to the Grand Canyon and other pictures from our travels to create his adventurous and travel themed nursery.  I didn’t necessarily want the typical travel decorations; my goal was to create a worldly theme by incorporating a dreamy canvas of the ocean, encouraging quotes, a cloud/sky mobile, passport journals, and pictures and maps of where we’ve been together.  All of these elements come together to represent a travel-inspired theme.
