Boho Holiday Party in the Desert

Christmas in the desert… that’s what these ladies had in mind for a fun twist on your typical holiday party. We think their BoHO HO Holiday theme couldn’t be cuter (and we love a good pun!)! The boho holiday party features a beautiful tablescape set with earthy decor, floor pillows, and poufs that give it that traditional bohemian flair. Additionally, there’s a super cool cocktail bar and woven bookcase decked out with desserts! Below, C.C. Monroe Event Design shares the behind the scenes deets from the festivities!

With Christmas just a week away, I knew I wanted to do a holiday inspired shoot. However, I didn’t want to give off the traditional Christmas vibe. So, I decided to call my super talented friends, Rachael of Charlie’s Butter and Sina of Adorn Your Space to begin collaborating on an out of the box holiday themed shoot. As moms and entrepreneurs, we rarely get the chance to relax and unwind ESPECIALLY during the holiday season. We thought how fun would it be to create a holiday cocktail party centered around friends taking a desert road trip for time together away from the holiday rush. So we packed our cars and hit the road. BoHO HO HOliday party here we come! I am so glad the super talented Katie Edwards was down for the ride to capture our vision on film.

We decided to shoot at the Echo Ranch House, a semi-secluded 1966 Bungalow set on 6 acres of raw and natural desert land. To achieve the intimate feeling we were after, we went with a low table adorned with a mix of area rugs, pillows and poufs from Circa Vintage Rentals. We wanted a neutral color palate for our tablescape to compliment the desert terrain. We layered plates using an eclectic mix of acacia wood, white and pressed glass dinnerware from borrowed BLU. Additionally, we selected a glassware trio of clear pressed coupes, gold rimmed champagne flutes and brass chalices. To add a thoughtful and festive touch, we dressed each place setting with a wooden ornament place card created by SheWildflower. For the tablescape florals, we went with a minimalist approach. We did so by creating a eucalyptus garland runner and adding a few gold geometric terrariums each adorned with a mini air plant.

Rachael baked the yummiest holiday treats made with her famous delectable artisan pasture-fed butter. Of course no cocktail party is complete without a bar! We designed a cute and festive bar area with cocktail filled ornaments! The Unlikely Florist nailed it with his “desert greenery” inspired arrangements placed in metal vessels. To continue with the theme of Christmas in the desert, we swapped out the traditional Christmas tree and instead brought in our own Christmas cactus decorated with mini white pom poms.

While this shoot was a dreamed up scenario, we actually got to live out our perfect holiday party. A day of just us ladies in the desert unplugged from our busy schedules. We got the chance to laugh and catch up while nibbling on yummy holiday goodies between shots and doing an official “it’s a wrap” cheers once our work was done. The best part of the day, was taking in a classic desert sunset with the girls!
