The celebration unfolded exactly where Nina and Ryan’s love story began: fly fishing along the Yellowstone River. This reason alone makes it only fitting that their “I do” moment returned them to the place that started it all. The Venue
Nina and Ryan wanted to bring their family and friends to a beautiful corner of Montana, tucked into the cozy cabins at Copper Rose Ranch. The ranch house set the scene for the ultimate intimate house party; warm, relaxed, and filled with the kind of joy that lingers long after the last song plays.
The Stationery
Nina and her mother handmade every single invitation, teaching themselves how to letterpress along the way on beautifully textured, handmade paper. They chose envelope liners that looked like pebbles in a river, a subtle nod to Yellowstone, and Nina even drew a custom map, cutting it into the shape of Montana so guests could get a sense of their surroundings while planning the trip. Nina’s mother decided to wrap each invitation with a delicate fishing fly and line to bind everything together. They completed the stationery with vintage Western stamps to make each invitation pop.
The First Look
Their love story actually began back in college, where they lived in the same dorm but never interacted. Instead, they only ever knew of each other. Fast forward to adulthood, they ended up living just down the street from each other in Bozeman, where they officially met, and one date at Wild Crumb was all it took – they’ve been inseparable ever since!
Nina’s dress, designed by Saint Bridal, was love at first sight. She was instantly drawn to the sculptural elements in the skirt, and the second she put it on, she knew it was the one. Her “something old” was the diamond Ryan gave her, her “something new” was her dress, her “something borrowed” was a necklace from Lebanon that her mom shared for the day, and her “something blue” was a silver and turquoise pendant from her parents, sweetly tucked into her bouquet.
The Ceremony
For their ceremony, Nina and Ryan both knew they wanted to honor the religious faiths they were raised in, while also weaving in their own sense of spirituality as adults. During the ceremony, their officiant sent their rings around to each guest for a personal blessing. In true Quaker tradition, Nina’s father read a scroll that marked the moment and declared their commitment to love and honor each other forever. As witnesses, their guests were invited to sign the handwritten, hand-painted document during cocktail hour. This document is now framed in their home as a daily reminder of the sacred promise they made to one another.
The Cocktail Hour
Nina and Ryan wanted the evening to feel like an epic dinner party that slowly transitioned into a dance party. Cocktail hour spilled out onto the lawn beneath the mountains, and despite a bit of wind, it was absolutely stunning. Ryan’s best friends even grabbed their fly rods (cocktails in hand of course!), and somehow managed to catch a rainbow trout in their tuxes, a moment that truly set the vibe for the rest of the night.
The Details
Drawing from Nina’s roots and memories of her childhood in Massachusetts, the inspiration for their rustic Montana wedding came from the region’s timeless antique charm, reimagined through a modern lens with vibrant, expressive florals. For Nina, it was important that everything felt elevated, timeless, and formal, but not stuffy. Each table was finished with tiny chocolate bars from their local chocolatiers and close friends, Front Porch Chocolate, as well as handwritten notes from Nina and Ryan at every place setting.
The Celebration
Nina and Ryan kicked the party off with an opening set of Van Morrison’s Wild Night to get everyone moving before dinner, then seated guests to a partially plated, partially family-style meal featuring flavors inspired by both of their cultures: Italian and Lebanese. Once the band started following dinner, no one left the dance floor.
