Savannah Guthrie's News Themed Baby Shower by Minted

We’re super excited to share Savannah Guthrie’s baby shower on our baby blog today! Savannah is a news anchor on the Today Show and has been a journalist for her entire career and her husband is also in the news business. So of course, these two had to celebrate with an “Extra! Extra!” theme!! Minted brought in an amazing team of vendors to create a gorgeous yellow and grey party with an emphasis on books, letters, and newspaper. The venue was filled with Minted bunting banners and chic white furniture for a very cool, but still warm overall effect. Little details included ‘Savannah’ spelled out with Uncle Goose blocks under a lucite doughnut and pretzel display. Minted trophy jars were filled with yellow duckies. Minted drink straws with Oh Baby! flags added a festive touch to lemonade cocktails served on trays lined with the covers of well known children’s books.

All the NBC correspondents posed behind a minted photo backdrop with fun photobooth props. Guests also decorated Burt’s Bees onesies for the baby-on-the-way. They used a free, online crossword puzzle service to make up a little shower quiz for guests to fill in. They also ordered custom pencils with #showersavannah for guests to fill out the cards and those were placed in yellow Life Factory bottles. Guests were asked to bring one unwrapped book for Savannah’s baby and one for a deserving child. They were placed on a super cute, styled bookshelf. Yellow decorative touches abounded, included a school bus, ducks, books, salt water taffy sandals, a seaplane, and a little bear with a yellow raincoat and hat.

Guests all took home a Minted notebook, Sprinkles cupcakes individually wrapped with an ‘Extra! Extra’ printed on top, Rita Hazan hair gloss and Hanky Panky undies in pink if it’s a girl and blue in case it’s a boy! The newsprint goody bags were completed with a minted Extra! Extra! gift tag and ribbon.
