Pura Vida is the essence of Costa Rica, which translates to “Pure Life.” This means treating each day as a celebration with gratitude to be alive, with a positive attitude towards others and yourself. It is a subtle reminder that living in the moment, with a smile, light in your heart and gratitude in your soul, is really with life is about! Especially on your wedding day!
Beautiful, bright, vibrant colors are everywhere your eyes can see in this serene country so it was a natural fit to include happy color tones in this Pura Vida inspired wedding at the Andaz Papagayo. Rich orange accents with the natural, rich flora and fauna that lives in abundance throughout the country. These flowers and plants played with different textures, colors, and varieties; potted Orchid plants, Ferns and Tropical Green leaves. We were also sure to mix unexpected, softer floral varietals, giving the final look a romantic and current feel.
Along with color – good food, drinks and entertainment are must haves. The Andaz chef prepared eye catching, locally sourced appetizers while Victoria Zoch supplied a minimal hand painted cake with handmade florals and colorful macaroons (a must). The Rum and Mojito Bar was inspired by the miles and miles of sugar cane fields, harvested each season to make the national rum—Centenario. Any tasty glass of rum on the rocks needs to be accompanied by a perfectly rolled cigar, and Cuba is not the only destination where you can find authentic and locally fabricated cigars. For an extra special touch, we brought in a cigar roller, always a huge hit at weddings in Costa Rica.
Other fun and unique details included the colorful bird plates, showcasing the many kinds
of bird species that inhabit this tropical paradise and paperie that follow the themes of the jungle, with tropical and beautiful shades found throughout the local landscape.
