Tips for Having an Eco-Friendly Wedding

It may not cross your mind as much as saving costs does but saving the planet when planning your wedding is an important concern. Here are a few tricks to keep your wedding day earth conscious by saving (or contributing) plants, water, and other resources!

Try Dried Flowers
Brie’s Honeybees & Flowers says, Use dried flower bouquets, boutonnieres and flower crowns. They don’t have to be in water the day of your wedding, which keeps things earth friendly, and you can keep them after the wedding! This is perfect for destination weddings because they can be shipped or for fall weddings that feel a bit more rustic.

Substitute paper goods with reusable items
Gold Leaf Event Design & Production says, Have guests sign something that you already own such as a globe!

Ceremonially Plant a Tree

TOAST Santa Barbara says, Rather than lighting a candle together, or combining sand, one of our couples decided to ceremonially plant a tree together as the start of their marriage! I LOVE this idea and think it’s a great inspiration.

Encourage guests to plant trees & flowers by offering seeds or succulents as favors!
Honey Fitz Events says, Guests received mini succulent plants as favors which they were encouraged to plant.

Use Potted Plants as Decor Instead of Cut Flowers

Bluebird Productions says, Put a little extra thought into decor to reduce waste! Would live plants supplement cut flowers nicely with your design? Can you use soy wax candles? A lovely linen using natural fibers versus manufactured fibers will reduce your carbon footprint as well.

Consider more water conscious plants, such as succulents
