Styled Shoot Turned Fairytale Proposal in Texas

Pulling off a surprise engagement that is as cute as this one, and getting a talented photographer to capture every darling second of it, is every girl’s dream! When you add a fairytale theme to the mix, all bets are off! This styled shoot turned fairytale proposal captured by Cottonwood Road photography seriously looks like it was taken right out of a storybook! Plus, the bride-to-be looks ecstatic about the news, and we can’t help but smile along when scrolling through the gorgeous photos! Can The Yes Girls plan our proposals too?!

When The Yes Girls were approached with the opportunity to do a set of styled shoots with the best vendors that Texas has to offer, we just couldn’t say no! The team had already chosen the gorgeous couples that would be modeling, so we were left with the fun part… turning a “styled shoot” into a real-life fairytale dream proposal.

Among the couples were long-time love birds, Matt and Jasmin. Since the team originally asked Jasmin to model (who then convinced Matt to come along) we knew it would be the perfect surprise to reach out to Matt and plan our own surprise. When we asked Matt what he loved most about Jasmin, his answer was that he had shared many “firsts” with her. We knew that we had to highlight this detail in an extra special way, so we asked Sarah Ann Design to create a gorgeous calligraphy banner highlighting every memorable “first” in their relationship. This banner reminded us of a scroll out of a story book, and since this proposal would be the start of Jasmin’s happily ever after, we came up with the idea for a fairytale proposal.

When Matt and Jasmin arrived at the photo shoot (finely dressed in Dobell and BHLDN) they were lead into an open field, where Pearls and Poppies had adorned a single tree with wild, organic florals, a greenery-covered swing, and moss and flower-covered tree stumps. When Jasmin spotted the calligraphy banner, she commented that “we used their real initials” however, upon further inspection, she realized that not only did we use their initials, but we were also telling their love story. After a few moments of insisting that the photo shoot was just that- a photo shoot- she then saw her mom waiting in the distance and immediately knew it was real.

As Matt got on one knee and pulled the ring from his Box Sock, Jasmin realized that the photo shoot we had planned for so long was actually a ruse for her dream proposal. After she said “YES!” her friends and family swarmed to congratulate the newly engaged couple. Hannah of Cottonwood Road Photography was there to capture the beautiful moments that Matt and Jasmin will surely cherish forever.
