Countryside Engagement Photos in Barcelona, Spain

These engagement photos in Barcelona come with a good does of romance. We love this session for its beauty and its carefree couple and know you will think the same. Aren’t they the cutest?! After a cross-continental relationship, countless dates via skype, and trips back and forth from Barcelona to the States, Chris proposed to Carla in Spain. Here’s the romantic story paired perfectly with their excited engagement photos. But first, here are a few words from their photographers, Ryan & Kaylea, of Married Morenos.

We captured this engagement session in a town just outside of Barcelona, Spain. Chris and Carla started at a castle that they were considering as a wedding venue. We then walked to one of Carla’s favorite spots behind her home. Chris is from the U.S. and Carla is Spanish. They met by total chance and fell totally in love.

In the spring of 2016, Chris told Carla he was coming back to Spain to spend the summer together. What she didn’t know was that he arrived 4 days earlier to ask her parents for permission to propose. Carla had just finished her final exam for her degree and was going with her sister to celebrate. When she arrived at the train station her sister surprised her with a letter from Chris! When she opened the letter there was a ticket to enter the famous Casa Batllo and a note asking her to come inside. As Carla went to the door and gave her ticket to the man waiting there, he scanned it and returned the ticket with another letter from Chris!

At this point Carla says she was just reading fast and following the directions because she knew that Chris was waiting inside. As she finished the second letter, a female employee took her by the arm and led her to the elevator. On the way up the woman gave Carla a third letter! The last line said that Chris was waiting on the roof and Carla knew exactly where to look. One of their first dates had been at this house. We had stood on this rooftop the year before and talked about the story of the house built like a dragon with a certain spark in our eyes. Now, as Carla came up to the roof she saw Chris waiting with a bouquet of roses next to the dragon spine that lines the rooftop. She came running to meet him with the excitement that he was really in Spain! But she never expected the full reason he had come. After a few minutes of laughing together, Chris took a step back and said he had something he wanted to ask. Then he knelt down, pulled out a small black box with a ring inside, and asked Carla to be his wife!

Completely stunned, Carla said, “Are you serious?!” a few times and then, thankfully, “Yes! Of course, yes!” It was a perfect night set to their own fairy tale.
