Elegant Botanical Wedding in a Greenhouse

There is no better place to walk down the aisle than a breathtaking greenhouse resulting in an elegant botanical wedding surrounded by charming greenery. Bride and groom, Dean and Taylor, said their “I do’s” in this modern, yet vintage venue in West Bloomfield, Michigan. They had every advantage of an outdoor wedding as natural sunlight poured in through the windows, but the structure kept the guests dry as it rained. The real stars of the show were the furry friends they had greeting guests as they walked in. I mean, who doesn’t love alpacas? The couple’s wishes of being the main focus were definitely accomplished and their wedding was a magical fairytale. Keep reading to see for yourself how it all came together!

From the photographer

Greenhouse, elegance, AND alpacas? Oh yes, they did. Dean and Taylor combined unique and elegance with the details and location of their day. Planterra Conservatory in West Bloomfield, Michigan is a plant lovers paradise and provided an out-of-the-box and gorgeous setting for their wedding ceremony and reception. The rain outside wasn’t even a factor as the greenery based details and alpacas stole the show for their decor!

Behind the scenes of the planning process the bride…

I wanted to keep everything very simple, elegant, and natural in order to focus on us as a couple (I’m definitely not a professional planner, haha). My palette seemed to come together as rose gold, white marble, white and natural greens. Planterra is so beautiful on it’s own so I wanted to accentuate the natural beauty in there with some romance from candlelight and modern accents like white marble and gold. I loved our bar signs by Bash Events that were graphic designs of our dogs, such a nice, fun personal touch!

The greenery at planterra really set the scene for our entire wedding. We used mostly greenery and white flowers for our floral decor, again keeping it very simple yet stunning! My bouquet stood out with a beautiful King Protea flower which really set it apart! Our ceremony arch backdrop from Planterra was absolutely beautiful dripping with white flowers and gave our ceremony such a magical feel. We hired a local petting zoo to bring in 2 alpacas, Al Green and Al Pachino (haha) for our guests to greet and mingle with. I absolutely love animals so having these silly adorable guys there was a special touch I won’t ever forget! I had two very special kisses that day, my husband, for the first time and with Al Pachino, haha. Hearing our vows we had written to each other for the first time was a truly moving experience. Seeing the venue with all of our personal touches finally unveiled and taking the time to soak in the view of our family and friends in that beautiful environment was incredible.

The bride shares their love story…
I stole my brother’s best friend! I was the cool older sister when I met Dean for the first time when he was 12 or 13 and I was 16. We grew up together. Time passed and one day after attending a family friends wedding together, things changed from friends to something more! Dean proposed very nervously and with many tears (good tears!) on the Detroit Riverfront after a nearly silent dinner at Joe Muer Seafood due to nervousness on Dean’s behalf. I was completely surprised.

What is your favorite aspect of this stunning elegant botanical wedding?! We love the adorable alpaca and the stunning greenhouse!!
