“Day After” Maui Wedding Photos

Joseph and Andrea, of Connection Photography, took to Maui to capture a wedding and being the amazing photographers they are, captured their very own “day after” wedding shoot on our wedding blog today in the gorgeous location! These stunning photos in the Hawaiian hills are dreamy and make us want to run away to the tropics with our S.O.! Here is their even more beautiful love story from the bride herself:
Joseph and I have been together for 8 years and have been photographing weddings together for 7. I’m from Ohio and he is from North Carolina. We met at the beach when I was a senior in high school. While we were in college we would drive 6 hours back and forth to see one another and to take photographs.

On November 25th, 2012 Joseph and I flew out to California to photograph two weddings we had booked near Napa. Our first wedding was supposed to be in Yountville, CA but little did I know that the emails we had been receiving from our “couple” and the contract that they had signed was all fake! For a year Joseph made up a fake couple and was sending me fake emails back and forth. It was all a very well thought out plot to propose to me!! Once we got to our hotel we walked down to get dinner and there was a vineyard out front. He said he wanted to take our picture so he sat the camera up on a timer and as the camera snapped our photo he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him!

We enjoyed a long engagement and finally started planning our wedding around a year before we decided to have it. We have photographed over 100 weddings prior to our own so we had seen a lot of things we knew we did not want, but it was really hard to narrow down the things we did want.  After I fell in love with a gorgeous Jenny Packham wedding dress the style of our wedding really fell into place. We decided to have an outdoor wedding at a local venue near us in NC, called Il Bella Gardens. It was a 1920’s kind of wedding. Our colors were neutrals, gold and mint. We used the state outlines of Ohio + North Carolina as one of the big themes throughout our wedding. We used them on our invitations and menu’s.
When we go to new places we always try to take some sort of selfie while we are there. So it was only appropriate that when we photographed a wedding in Hawaii a few weeks after our wedding that we took our wedding attire and took our own photographs there.
