A Honeymooner’s Guide to Positano, Italy

Thinking about honeymooning in Italy? Wedding planner, Shannon Bellisle will totally convince you (like we need convincing!) that this idyllic locale is the perfect destination with her honeymooner’s guide to Positano, Italy! The rocky, colorful shores of this coastal city are full of charm and romance. Read on, as Shannon and her new hubby walk you through the beautiful streets, virtually showing you where to stay, dine, and play as newlyweds!

Italy has always been a travel dream for both of us, and when it came to planning our honeymoon it was honestly a no brainer. The romance, the history, the wine and food; we wouldn’t have wanted to spend our first few weeks of wedded bliss anywhere else in the world. Positano was the final stop on our two and a half week vacation, and talk about surreal! It was October, and the town was getting ready to close for their off season – and even though it was a little bit cooler, we still had some incredibly sunny days. But the best part is that since it wasn’t a touristy time of year to go we felt like, at times, we had the entire place to ourselves.
Trying to figure out what to do and where to go in a place you have never been before can be a little daunting. Fortunately for us, friends of ours had been to the beautiful Amalfi Coast before, so we had tons of recommendations to go off of. And to help you plan the honeymoon of your dreams I’ve outlined a few of our favorites right here:
Where to stay

Our photographer actually introduced us to Casa Albertina, and this place is so adorable that we immediately fell in love. Everything is so picturesque, from the front reception, to the cute doors and well dressed hallways. But the cherry on top? The rooftop patio that is available to all guests overlooking the beach front. We spent many nights up there sipping wine at sunset with some charcuterie spreads!!

Tip: if you are booking an Air BnB in Positano be sure to check the map! There are a lot of stairs, and some of the places listed are actually at the very top of the cliff which ends up being about a 30 minute walk down to the beach (and sure, going down doesn’t sound bad, but walking back up can become tiresome!)

Where to dine

Positano is not lacking in incredible dining places, but our favourite has to be Da Vincenzo. Built right into the rock, this restaurant has tons of romance and really gives you the full Positano experience. The owners knew we were on our honeymoon and were so incredibly sweet, giving me this hand crafted pottery ornament as a memento. I recommend you order the daily seafood special, I promise it will be worth it!

A Must See

If you are staying in Positano you absolutely need to visit the stunning Le Sirenuse hotel. Every corner you turn is one hundred percent Instagram worthy. You need to tour around the hotel when you are there – I was like a kid in a candy story! It was here that we enjoyed drinks and an unforgettable lunch at the hotel restaurant La Sponda, with a seriously breathtaking view of Positano. They also have a champagne and oyster bar, and I mean how can you go wrong there!

Romantic activities

Positano is small, and if you aren’t planning any day trips to the other towns, then you’ll want to find some things to do. Because we were on our honeymoon we wanted to share experiences that were extra romantic, the kind that let us just be in the moment, smooching and taking it all in. We highly recommend you take a boat tour with Blue Star. You’ll get a private tour of the Amalfi Coat at sunset, taking you inside some of the most picturesque caves – it really doesn’t get more romantic than that!

A Must Do

Lastly, we recommend hiring a photographer for an afternoon. It was so fun to wander around the streets stealing kisses and just having fun together. Not to mention when our photographer gave us the images it took us back to that exact moment, which was such a joyous feeling. Being able to share our experience with images like this was so worth it, and no selfie or tilted photo from another tourist could ever compare.

Where will you go on your honeymoon?
