Inspired by this Outdoor Maternity Shoot in a Field

I’m so excited to share our very first maternity session with you! My dear friend Jesi Haack had her sweet baby girl, River, in January but her maternity shoot was just so gorgeous that we had to share! The photos were taken by her husband, Mr. Haack, in Orange County and are absolutely breathtaking! They held the shoot at the perfect time of day with the setting sun creating that amazing soft lighting. I am obsessing over that blue dress she is wearing in the second half of the shoot too! She looks absolutely stunning! I can’t help but be inspired by maternity shoots like this one. Just the way the mom-to-be is glowing is enough to swoon!  Photo sessions like this are the perfect way to capture an extremely exciting time in your life and document those last moments of calm before the baby comes!

Inspired by This Space Invader Robot Themed Baby Shower!

I am so excited to share the baby shower that I planned for my friend Carissa and her baby boy to be! We  decided on a space invader theme to match the nursery in colors of yellow, grey, orange and blue. Some of her closest industry friends came together with me  to help make this shower happen and we are so excited to share it with everyone!!!

We served some fun drinks, “anti freeze” (Nicolas Feuillatte champagne) “Rocket Fuel” (lemonade)
and “liquid hydrogen” (mango juice and sprite) Guests were also encouraged to outfit their drinks with crazy straws!

Courtney Toney of Joyful Joyful created some amazing party hats to go with the theme,
she also sells them in her shop, they’d be perfect for a birthday party!

Jesi Haack created an amazing pixelated space invader back drop to showcase our “out of this world” foods! We decided to go with finger foods instead of a sit down meal. Guests ate “micro chips” (potato chips) “comet particles”(wild rice salad served in hand made foil bowls) “ufo’s – unidentified flavorable objects”(chicken salad sandwiches on round buns ) and “tri colored laser beams” (a veggie crudite of yellow bell peppers, green beans, carrots and edamame dip served in shot glasses)

Melody of Sweet and Saucy spoiled us with the most ridiculously cute robot cake pops, cupcakes, white chocolate dipped doughnut holes or “astroids” and sugar cookies also known as “flying saucers”, she also made some space invader chocolates out of molds that I had bought.

Adrienne from Cherish Paperie created the adorable shower invites using a robot graphic and pixelated font – they read:“greetings earthlings…our circuits are overloaded with excitement for the arrival of a new species!”  it then went on to list the objective, the launch date and the coordinates of the party. The paper goods for the shower mainly focused on space invaders and we tried to incorporate lots of fun play on words to go with our galaxy/robot theme!

Carissa found some etsy sellers to custom make hand soaps in the shapes of gray robots and white space invaders…they were then packaged up in white boxes with labels that read “baby shower objective:  destroy all germs”

Wedding Chicks created custom tote favor bags with an ombre effect of space invader graphics…the bags varied in color from orange, yellow, gray and teal and they each said one of the following phrases:”take me to your leader” “we come in peace” “resistance is futile” “beware the invasion”

Guests played a fun game of Baby Taboo with a mixture of baby words and outer space themed words, it was so much fun!
