Inspired by Breast Cancer Awareness and Pink Weddings

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  Unfortunately, like most of you, I personally know women who have been affected by this awful form of  cancer.  Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States, aside from skin cancer? According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), an estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed among women in the United States this year alone.  Because of improved research and treatments, today there are about 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States!  You can be a part of making that number grow by donating to the Susan G Komen Foundation right now!

So today we want to take a moment to show our support of those who have had and are currently battling breast cancer with some “breast cancer pink” inspiration!

Inspired by Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Couture Dress Designer launches 100 brides for $100k Campaign

Today is October 1st, which means more than the fact it is officially Fall! It’s time for pumpkin spice lattes and the upcoming holiday season, and even more importantly it is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month I am extra proud to represent Alisa Benay who is a couture dress designer on a mission. This month Alisa will be launching her first bridal gown line at New York Bridal Market as well as a campaign called 100 brides for 100k. Alisa crafted a beautiful, pink hued wedding gown called the Mirabelle, for every one sold, Alisa Benay will donate $1000 of the proceeds to breast cancer research. What a fabulous initiative and a great way for a bride to give back!  Her hope is that 100 brides or women looking for special event gowns and $100,000 will be raised. Below are some of the images of the show stopping dress as well as a few things Alisa found inspirational in creating it. If you would like to see the Mirabelle and Alisa’s other beautiful gowns in person and are going to Bridal market, visit them in suite 344 at the Intercontinental-Barclay Hotel on October 17th and 18th. For more information you can follow Alisa on Twitter.
