Beware, you’re about to be bombarded by a boatload of cuteness! This boho Bambi first birthday is right up our alley – or should we say trail? Mom and party planner, Lyndsie Smith, turned her home into a forest fit for her daughter’s first birthday celebration. And the result is adorable! A cute cake station (a must!), chalkboard welcome signs, and cute deer decor top it off. Our favorite party pun? The ‘One-deer-ful’ saying chalked on a rustic wood board. And if deer’s aren’t your daughter’s thing, this puppy party might be more like it!
Our little Karia Paige went to Disney World for the first time when she was 3 months old. While there, we let her pick out a few stuffed animals. One of the first animals she went for was Thumper! Since then, she naps and goes “nite-nite” with Thumper ever single night – she adores him. So we thought it was only fitting that she celebrates her first birthday with Thumper, Bambi and friends! I loved the muted tones, and simple style of the vintage Bambi designs so I combined the graphics of the old 1950’s Bambi posters with more trendy boho florals & woodland elements. I went to a few antique stores to scope out some vintage deer, and found two sweet little figurines. Those little figurines set the tone for the party inspiration. I loved the deer elements combined with soft pinks and neutral florals.
To create a statement background piece for the inspiration table, I created a variety of large and small paper flowers – using a combination of scrapbook paper (for the small flowers), poster board (large flowers), and card stock (medium-large flowers). I also took wood from our home wood pile, and hot glued some moss to it to create a more woodsy look..added some pinecones and the woodland atmosphere was forming!
The rest of the florals were designed by my mother in law, with roses and sprigs from her own garden. The table linens were from the lovely Candy Crush Shop. They added perfect soft, sweet, and delicate texture to the tables. One of my favorite pieces from the party was the cake topper. the cake topper was home-made using card stock, gold paint, glitter, silk flower, and feathers. It topped her simple white cake perfectly! Other fun elements included hand-painted signage, chalk art, 12 month picture display, Bambi quotes, coloring pages, high chair banner, flower crown, cupcakes, and cupcake toppers.
