Astrology Inspired Baby Shower

Planning a baby shower around the babe’s Zodiac sign is a new concept, but we think it will gain traction and take off… you could say we see it in the stars (?). And when it does, we’re giving all the credit to Gabriella at V Agency, who was inspired by her sister’s love of astrology to dream up this incredible astrology inspired baby shower. Whether you’re having a boy, or girl, this theme totally works, which is another reason why we love it! If you’re keeping the gender under wraps, why not use the baby’s due date as direction for the theme instead? For this shower in particular, they went with Leo—the fiery, lion zodiac sign. With that as their guiding light, and the galaxy as an overarching influence, the stars seemed to align…

Gabriella at V Agencey shares…

This baby shower is near and dear to my heart, and is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The inspiration for it came from my younger sister, who is obsessed with astrology. One day we were talking and I said to her, “When you have a baby, let’s have your baby shower theme be based on the baby’s sign!” From there, I began to think about how I could make this a reality right now and that’s how this shoot came to be. I wanted the theme to be all about the zodiac sign of the baby, instead of gender or using generic themes. This idea is great for parents who do not want to know the sex of their baby, or are raising their baby without gender stereotypes.

We chose the zodiac sign, LEO, and created a design based on the ruling planet, element, colors, and animal of that sign. Leo’s are a fire sign and ruled by the sun, so that’s why we chose to use bold, warm colors. We used contrasting dark navy to give an outer space vibe as well. There were little details such as lion stuffed animals, the Leo constellation, and signature drink that paid homage to the Leo Sign too.

The shoot was done at Trumbull and Porter, a new boutique hotel in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. Fun fact: in 1969 when the hotel first opened as Detroit’s first Holiday Inn, the Rolling Stones stayed in one of the rooms during their tour! We were in their Corktown Room, which is an event space used for small events and dinners. This shoot truly embodies the fun and creative side of event planning and I really think in the next couple years this is going to be a major trend for the baby showers of Millennials!

It’s out of this world!
