8 Things Every New Mom Needs

Well, it’s official – I’m a mom! To a beautiful baby girl 🙂 It feels like yesterday that I was sharing my maternity photos on the blog! The past couple of weeks have been a bit of a blur… everything they say say about new-parent “fog” is true! And while I don’t think you can ever completely prepare for it, there are a few products that are getting us through this crazy time. So for all you other new mamas starting this journey with me, here are my recommendations to help make things a little more manageable.

9 Things Every New Mom Needs - Inspired by This

1. Solly Baby Wrap

It’s true – baby wearing is Game. Changing. Capital G, capital C. She’s cuddled up and warm, and I’m hands free and productive – it’s a win win! My favorite brand is definitely Solly – they’re so soft and so stylish. It took me a few tries to be comfortable wrapping her in, but it’s true what they say – practice makes perfect!

2. Babyganics products

I love how gentle these products are! The first bath at home can be very intimidating, but between her tub and Babyganics soaps and shampoos we survived! Their products are all made with plant-based ingredients and are super effective. They’re also so easily available – I can order them Prime off Amazon or pick them up at my local Target. Also, I may or may not have run out of my own bubble bath and used the baby’s and thoroughly enjoyed it 🙂

3. Comfort Cam

We chose this as our monitor system and I love it! We’re a tech loving family with Apple, Droid and Microsoft products and this system is compatible with all of them. I also love the two way audio – we haven’t had to leave her yet, but I love that when we finally get out for a date night we’ll be able to say goodnight to our baby girl.

4. Boob Clothing

One of the best pieces of advice I was given was to pack nursing tops in my hospital bag… I haven’t worn anything since! A few friends gifted me pieces from their favorite brands, but so far the front-runner for me is Boob. The quality of the pieces alone is enough to keep me as a customer, but I also love the fit and style of their tops.

5. Boho Cheeks Cover

Most first-time mom’s are stereotypical worry warts, and I can’t say I’m any exception. The few times we’ve ventured outside of the house we’ve taken our Blushing Cheeks cover with us and it has been a lifesaver! It discourages curious strangers, and gives me comfort knowing she has her own bit of privacy! Total Sidenote –  I also got a few headbands from them too – aren’t they the cutest?!

6. Medela Pump

Every breastfeeding mom needs a pump. I LOVE this Medela pump – it’s easy to use, requires minimal cleaning and is transportable. A lot of the pumps I looked at have the pump built into the bags, and while there’s something to be said for that, it is SO nice to have the option to put it in whatever bag is the most convenient in the moment.

7. Munchkin Diaper Pail

As you can imagine, this one doesn’t need much of an explanation! I can’t tell you how many diapers I’ve changed, and I’m only a few weeks into this whole thing. It’s so nice to have a place to put used diapers and not have to worry about them. Anything that gets me back to cuddle time faster is a win in my book!

8. 4Moms Breeze

I asked a lot of my mom friends about pack and plays and the response was almost always the same – “You have to have a pack and play. They’re a mom staple for traveling! I love mine, except that it’s really hard to put together and take a part. It usually takes 2 of us to do it, which is kind of a pain…” After hearing that 10 times I decided to find one that I could do myself. Enter – the 4Moms Breeze, which is so appropriately named because putting it out and putting it away is. a. breeze. Moms take note – pack and plays are a part of your life now, do yourself a favor and pick one that is easy!
