Amanda and Jared were married at the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple and had not one but two receptions after! The daytime reception was at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria and the evening reception was held at the Bride’s uncle’s home. I love that they really had a whole day of celebrating! The flowers and colors are so relaxed and fun, and all done by the bride! The super cute invitations were designed by Ashley Mackay Designs. I also love the brides footwear-check out those yellow vans! So fun. A huge thanks to Leo Patrone for sharring his beautiful pictures with us. Check out his blog for more beautiful weddings.

Well Goblins and Ghouls it is that time again..Halloween! Saturday is the bewitched day but the macabre will continue well into Monday as it is El Día de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead). Below you will find some hauntingly delicious cocktails, boo-tiful Halloween wedding details and some drop dead gorgeous Day of The Dead inspired wedding items. Martha Stewart always knows how put together a spirited spread and create some creepy concoctions

Ghost in the Graveyard
Serves 1
2 ounces black vodka
2 ounces creme de cacao or coffee-flavored liqueur
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
Pinch of finely grated nutmeg, for garnish

In a glass, combine vodka and creme de cacao, and set aside. Place a scoop of ice cream in a highball glass, and slowly pour vodka mixture over ice cream. Garnish with nutmeg; serve immediately.

Screwed-Up Screwdriver
Serves 1
1/4 cup ice
1/2 cup freshly squeezed tangerine juice
1 1/2 ounces black vodka
1 black licorice twist, for serving

Place ice in a tall glass. Pour juice into glass. Pour vodka over the back of a cocktail spoon into glass so it sits on top of juice and creates a layer of black. Slice 1/4 inch off each end of licorice, and use as a straw. Serve immediately.

Berry Scary Martini
Serves 1
1 cup ice
1 ounce black vodka
2 ounces cherry juice
Fresh raspberries and blueberries, for garnish

Combine ice, vodka, and cherry juice in a cocktail shaker; shake vigorously. Pour into a martini glass. Thread raspberries and blueberries onto a cocktail skewer, and place in drink. Serve immediately.

Since last week we dedicated a post all to gifts and accoutrement for the groom and his men, this week we are showing love for the ladies. There are many exciting services and products out there for bridesmaids. You may remember a post we did a while back about the Twirl Boutique who cater to the Bride’s supporting ladies.

The Dessy Group which not only provides many bridesmaids dresses and accessories in an array of colors has recently launched a cool new section on their website in which you can pull together your bridal party’s apparel to pantone perfection. Here are a few boards I created.

1154 Lill studio is a site and service where you can create custom purses. What a fun gift for your bridesmaids! They also host parties where the bride and her girls can together pick our their purses. With many fabrics and shapes to choose from, you really could find the perfect bag to compliment even the wildest color combination.

We love love love all of the super cute shirts, stationery and totes that the girls from the Wedding Chicks have created and are selling on their blog. A major plus is a lot of the items are customizable!

I had the pleasure of being pampered by Fiore Beauty on the day of my engagement party. I would recommend them to any bridal party wanting to look their best! I cant think of any better way to start off the wedding day than mani’s and pedi’s in a luxe hotel room with all of your girlfriends!

Matt and Emily were married on the beach in beautiful Cabo San Lucas and the reception was held at the Cabo Surf Hotel and Spa. The sky and the sea in each photo are absolutely picture perfect. I love the cool and casual feel as well as the color palate that pulled from the natural elements of the wedding. Gloria Quintero from Maye Cortinas pulled the wedding together seamlessly. All too often the poor groom is overlooked when it comes to wedding planning, so today I have decided I will dedicate a whole post to awesome items for the groom to wear, gift or indulge in. The groom should feel like he and his taste are incorporated into the weddings at least partly as much as the brides. Below are some great groom geared gems we found! Lavender is such a wonderful herb, it is not only beautiful but also gives off the most intoxicating scent. I love the earthy delicious smell! The Lavender bouquets are by far my favorite part of this gorgeous wedding photographed by Beautiful Day photography. The color palate is so soothing and the setting just gorgeous. The wedding between Tyson and Shannon took place at Ojai Valley Inn and Spa in Ojai, California. The couple has known each other since they were 13 years old and started dating in their senior year of high school. The wedding was planned by Ryan Larson from Savior Flair Weddings. The couples program cover was designed by Andrea Burrell and created with the love letters the couple had written to each other the past 12 years together. Since Tyson and Shannon went to high school together, they enlisted their principal to marry them. The beautiful florals were designed by Laura Bachman of Hoot and Heart who drew from the scenery at Ojai Valley Inn and Spa where lavender grows wild as well as succulents.

When I was in school, I used to love to write on the big chalkboard in my elementary school classrooms. It was the coolest thing! You could write whatever you wanted to or draw a picture and poof erase it in an instant. I have loved seeing the increase in their incorporation into the design at a wedding. It just brings you back to those sweet and innocent days of youth. We are especially seeing them serving as the menu display for the evening. I dont know about you but I always like to know what delicious things are in store for me at an event and a chalkboard is such a cute way to clue everyone in. I loved the chalkboard table cloths in the back to school wedding we featured.

Inspired by The Desert

I am not sure if it is the gray sky or the cooler temps but I am wanting to be nice and cozy somewhere right now, which made me think of the desert and with one thought usually a wedding relating thought follows. I love the juxtaposition of a soft white wedding dress against the stark golden terrain of the desert. I love that the desert is seemly dead but animals and plants abound..sometimes they are just harder to find. Its a mysterious and beautiful place. After all of the great feedback we received from the hire a planner post, I thought I would devote this Love This Thursdays post to one of my fabulous planners Kelly McWilliams who owns the company Weddings By Socialites was truly made to be a wedding planner. She is super passionate about what she does and it shows when you see the amazing weddings that she puts together. Kelly services the south west Florida/Gulf coast area but also does many destination weddings. Here are some fun facts about Kelly:

She finds comfort in lists (as do I), She has been doing weddings since 2003 ( talk about experience and credibility!), Kelly strives to make each wedding unique to the couple and really cares about her clients and wants the best for them. She lives by the motto: “Work hard, smile a lot, and be very very nice”. Kelly is married to a man named Kelly and together the Kelly McWilliams’ have 2 children.

When asked what inspires her, Kelly shared this us with, “I am inspired by the unique items that I find while browsing the aisles of my favorite shops and boutiques (particularly at HomeGoods, as my twitter friends know). I’m known for finding a single item and building an entire event design around it. I love looking through coffee table books, fabrics, and pretty paper. Music is a big inspiration for me; “Let’s Get Married” by Jagged Edge, (the ReMarqable remix) gets me inspired for wedding days. I can’t dance or sing, but all the girls in my studio will tell you I put on full concerts daily. Nobody would by a ticket to my concerts. I’m inspired by successful and intelligent people who educate without even knowing it.”
